Holy Trinity Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone who helped us to have such a fabulous time on Saturday! There was a lovely atmosphere and I know all of the children loved it. The amount of work that it takes to hold the summer fair cannot be underestimated; it’s massive and so is our appreciation. It was a wonderful day, supported by our wonderful community.

Congratulations to Eagle Class for their very first class assembly last Friday – well done. Penny Cox

Pupil Parliament. I am delighted to say that Beau Matthews and Milan Curtis - Brown have been elected by their peers as the Holy Trinity members of the Borough's Pupil Parliament.

Head teacher’s award. A huge thank you to Liberty, Helena and Max M for coming to our governors’ meeting on Monday to talk about the head teacher’s award – you did a wonderful job; the governors were most impressed.

School meals. Please make sure that all payments for this term are paid by Monday 11th July at the latest.

Football Cards. Please don’t bring these into school to swap, we don’t want any to get lost and they do cause a bit of a distraction. Thank you.

Hello everyone                                                                                                 29/06/2016

What a wonderful day we had at our Fair on Saturday. The turnout was brilliant, the atmosphere was pure HT and the weather behaved itself (wouldn’t really have been the same without that shower now would it?). Many of you have been kind enough to reach out to let us know how much fun you had. If you have any specific constructive feedback (be it good or not so good, we want to know!) about any aspect of the Fair, please complete our quick Fair Survey via this link http://www.holytrinityschool.org.uk/index.php/fair-evaluation?view=form.

School Hide & Seek Raffle winner: Claire and Trevor Bell’s Hide & Seek Raffle has been a great success! Mrs Cox will be doing the draw later this week and we will let the lucky winner know. They and their friends are in for a treat!

Silent Auction winners: will have been notified by email. Please pay for your items by PayPal if possible and pick up your vouchers etc from the school office once paid.Raffle Winners: have all been notified – congratulations! Class Reps will be sent a break down for their stall later this week. Thank you to everyone who came along to make this happen - and most especially to all of you hard working busy people who gave up your time and energy to make the Fair the success it was. Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

As you will be aware, our wonderful Mrs Skivington is retiring from the nursery at the end of this academic year. We are really pleased to announce that Mrs Neal (current reception teacher and acting EYFS leader) will take over this role in the autumn.

Congratulations to Mr Picken and Mrs Rickman who have successfully completed their teacher training courses, both have been snapped up by local schools for teaching positions for September. Mr Picken will be teaching at Lowther Primary School and Mrs Rickman will be at Nelson Primary School. We are so sorry to say goodbye to these fabulous members of our team but we are delighted for them! We wish them all the very best on the next step of their careers.

Important information

School Car Park: Please do not allow your children to walk through the car park. We have cars manoeuvring at lots of times during the day so it is not safe to walk/scooter through. Please keep your children close by you at all times.

Roller skates/blades: Please don’t let your children use these in the school grounds – they are very hazardous when we have young children and toddlers around.

Key Stage One statutory assessments: I want to reassure you that our year 2 team will ensure that these statutory assessments will be carried out with our usual child centred approach. Our aim is that the children will not even know that these assessments are happening. In year 2 the teacher’s formative (those made over time) assessments have a greater bearing on the children’s end of year results.

Multi Academy Trusts: Another current high profile educational issue is the idea of multi academy trusts. As a governing body we have been carefully gathering information about how we could manage this process to the benefit of the school and its children. We are steadily continuing with this research and will not be making any hasty decisions. We will of course keep you informed when we get to the appropriate stage. Holy Trinity is very blessed with an extremely robust and conscientious group of governors who execute their responsibility with great care and diligence.

Community Little Robot Stories, Free Book Launch/Art Exhibition: Saturday 7th May 2pm – midnight at Richmond Yacht Club, Eel Pie Island, Twickenham, TW1 3DY. There will be lots of free activities for children.

In Safe Hands: Meadlands Primary School in Ham are running a special event called “In Safe Hands”, this is an initiative to enable families to meet all the agencies and charities that can help with keeping children safe. This will be a fun and interactive opportunity with lots of free activities for children. The guest speaker is Carrie Grant. Venue: Meadlands Primary School, Ham. Date: Wednesday 25th May. Time: 3.30 – 6.30pm.

Chaplain’s Corner: We have our termly evening prayer meeting for the children and the school today at 8pm in the staff-room. This is always a wonderful time committing the children, the staff and our school into God’s care. Please do join us

Congratulations Infant sticker charts: Melody, Matylda, Willem, Olivia, Sammy, Alexia, Gaia, Maddy, Lucas, Leon, Zoe, Maya, Idrees, Ava, Maisie, Anna and Harry.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thanks to our fabulous community, we had a wonderful “Holy Trinity runs a marathon” day on Friday. Suzie Durrant had the idea for the school to raise much needed funds for the NSPCC by getting every member of the school to run 100m which would bring our total mileage to over a marathon. Anna Collier and Tim Hutchen gave an inspirational talk in the hall followed by a fun warm up on the field. Each child’s run was accompanied by the cheers of their classmates and supporters. Thank you so much to all the parents who helped with this event. What a fabulous time we had together. The Holy Trinity School community is just the best! Tim is running the marathon this Sunday. His chosen charity is Starlight, please sponsor him if you can. All the best Tim, we’re right behind you.

We had a fabulous science day yesterday. Hopefully your children came home and told you about all the experiments they did, I saw designs for submarines, traffic surveys and thoughts about whether there could be life on Mars. Our theme was “Planet Rock”, so the children were thinking about scientific aspects of life on Earth and what makes life viable on a planet.

With very best wishes,

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all the children who took part in the 02 performance last week and to the parents who accompanied them! Well done on your hard work learning all those songs.

I’m still on jury service but hope to finish at the end of this week. In my absence, Miss Ashby and the rest of staff have been doing an excellent job of running the school. It is wonderful to be part of such a strong team.

Our Year 4 children have been having an excellent time on their residential at Carroty Wood. This is a centre that we are using for the first time and it sounds as if it has been a great success. There are some photographs of the children on the website.

I’m really sorry that our phone line has been playing up this week; very frustrating I know. We hope to have it fixed today.

With very best wishes, Penny Cox
