Holy Trinity Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,Last Friday was a fabulous day at Holy Trinity. The day started with Falcon Class making us all smile with their gorgeous class assembly. We had MUFTI to get us all in the mood for the Summer Fair (10th June!). At the end of the day we had the most perfect charity football tournament in celebration of Howard Brazier’s life and to support his nominated charity. Well done to the Year 6 boys who were the overall winners and to Brianna for “best player”.

We break up for school on Friday and return on Tuesday 6th June. We wish you all a lovely break – hopefully we’ll get some sunshine!

Best wishes, Penny Cox

Important informationTrips into London – our thoughts and prayers go out to all those that have been affected by the horrendous bombing in Manchester. As the terrorism threat level has been moved to “critical” we are reviewing all our trips into London. I have decided to cancel the year 3 trip to the British Museum that was due to happen tomorrow. It was very sad to have to make this decision but I believe it is the right one in the present circumstances.

Community NewsAge UK project – with the invaluable help of a couple (Jackie Marie and Lucy Darke) of our parents we have been able to take some groups of year 6 children to have lunch with some elderly residents at the Barnes Green Centre. This has been enormously successful and we are considering rolling it out further next year. This is the feedback that we have had from the Centre Manager

:“Just to let you know the children that came today were great with the members, so well-mannered and confident. They were able to converse easily and seemed to enjoy being here.  The members really enjoy having them and look forward to them coming again.”

On Thursday we had an assembly led by the Dementia Action Alliance. They talked to the children about simple ways in which they can support older people in their families and community.

Sports NewsOur Yr 3/4 tennis team finished 2nd in the Yr 3/4 borough tournament. Well done to Oliver, William O., Bianca and Hanna. The Yr 5 team finished 1st in the Yr5/6 tournament and so will go on to represent Richmond in the London Youth Games. Well done to Francesca, Isabelle, Max U. and Matthew J.Yr 6 were runners-up in the Richmond Tri-Golf tournament. Our Yr5/6 basketball team qualified last half term to compete in the borough finals which are happening today. Well done and thank you to everyone who has been involved in these activities.

P.S.I have just returned to my desk following the most amazing MBE surprise party! I am blown away. My office is filled with balloons, cake, a fabulous rose bush, a teddy, a brilliant photo, a superb book from the children and last, but certainly not least, a life-size cardboard cut-out of David Beckham. I genuinely had no idea about the party and was speechless for one of the very few times in my life. You are all wonderful and precious; you deserve this honour, not me! Huge thanks to Miss Ashby and Lucy Darke for their kindness and thoughtfulness in organising this morning. Thank you to all the parents who came to help and support. Today certainly has created “a fantastic memory to cherish forever”.
