Holy Trinity Newsletter                                 04/03/2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following Roman Day in Year 4, World Book Day 2020 is almost upon us. I am very much looking forward to seeing the costume parade on Thursday morning and welcoming author David Mason into school to perform to and work with the children. We are really excited about Science Week next week (see below – we need your help) and continue to consider the challenges in our #Live Lent books such as ‘Little things add up to save a lot of energy. Turn lights off when you leave a room. Turn off chargers once mobile devices are charged’. Continuing to think about our environment, I am grateful for the response following last week’s newsletter but do continue to let me know what your key issues are in terms of your journey to and from school. In addition, I do hope you have had chance to read the letter and SIAMS report that was sent out via Parent Mail earlier today.

Best wishesAlison This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Important Information

We need your recycling! As part of our science week next week we are launching an exciting project on excess packaging for products. We would like to gather a week’s worth of each family's excess packaging to collect together on the 3G. We will be taking photographs and creating some artwork out of it so please ensure that it is rinsed out and clean! It is likely that due to our very limited recycling facilities that we will have to send some back home again at the end of the day-just so that you are aware! Please could you send it in on Thursday 12th March and leave it either in your child's classroom or on the 3G. (Items such as fruit & veg trays and bags, toothpaste boxes, cosmetics boxes)We will also be encouraging our children and our families to make pledges to reduce excess packaging for a month or longer. For example, only buying fruit that is loose without packaging, not using plastic cutlery or cups, avoiding products in plastic bags, swapping cling film for beeswax wraps. Please do talk to your children about this, it is their world we are trying to look after. If you would like to get more involved or know any good contacts please let your child's class teacher, Miss Ashby or Mrs Lambert know. Thank you for your support

PTA Quiz Night – 7.30 on Friday 13th March. Don’t forget to get your tickets via Class List asap!

RSE Meetings. It was great that so many of you were able to attend the RSE meetings last week. Mrs Da Costa will be making the information shared at the meetings available via the website – do look out for them.

EAL coffee morning. There will be an EAL (English as an Additional Language) parent tea/coffee morning on Friday morning at 9am in the Kingfisher Hut. This is for parents / carers with EAL or have children with EAL. This was really well attended and much enjoyed last time so do come and join in.

Coronavirus – Covid 19 We are sharing all regular updates with you as they are published. Please do read them and follow the advice given.

Chaplains Message. In Mark 4:35-41 we read how Jesus and the disciples encountered a storm while sailing across Lake Galilee. Whilst the disciples entered panic mode fearing the worst, Jesus was calmly sleeping. That’s a strange thing to do whilst in the middle of a storm!  Jesus has the power to calm the physical storms - but he also has the power to bring calm to us in the storms of life; He tells us He gives us His peace. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27. At this time of worry let's continue to pray this week for all those affected by the Coronavirus and thank God for all the specialist centres and staff working to bring the virus under control across the world.
