20th November 2013

Dear Parents and Carers,

Well done to Red Class for their assembly last week; we were so impressed by how well they had learnt their lines in such a short amount of time.

Please come along to support the Christmas Fair on 30th November. The PTA newsletter has lots of suggests of how you can help. Do look at the Silent Auction website it is wonderful!

Maths talk Find out how we teach maths; come to this talk this evening at 8pm or on Friday 22nd at 2pm.

Football Last week our girls team came second in the “Plate” contest in the borough’s girls football festival; they just lost out on first place in the penalty shoot out. Congratulations girls, we are so proud of you.

Dads football team The team won 6-3 against Sheen Mount. It was a reported to be a feisty game, involving the hospitalization of one of our players, Ben Spiers, after just 20 minutes. HT had no subs but battled in to win. Epic! This takes our unbeaten run to 5 games now. The next game is against Marshgate on Sunday 1st December 10 am at The Bank of England Sports Club. Come to cheer them on.

Mr Jerwood If you would like to say farewell to Mr Jerwood please join us in the school hall at 3.30pm on Wednesday 18th December for mulled wine and minced pies. If you would like to contribute to a leaving gift for Mr Jerwood please leave this with the office.

Used jam jars? If you have any spare please could you give them to Mr Brown in Jade Class.

St Elizabeth’s Christmas Fair This Friday why not pop up to St Elizabeth’s school on Queen’s Road to support their Christmas Fair? There are lots of stalls and things to do. Entrance is £2 for adults. 9am 11am.

Top of the morning to you all,

Apologies for any typos in this week’s missive, I’m writing through the dark glasses I still require after Quiz Night on Friday. What a triumph the evening was, our enormous thanks to Robert Hawker and John Vigar for a fantastic quiz that was both challenging and fun. Apparently. A huge round of applause also to Michele Dendy, Judy Anderson and Trevor Bell for their stellar services to the bar and disco. And well done to Team Tigers for not only winning the quiz, but immediately donating the prize back to the PTA. I enjoyed it, thanks. Astonishingly, you all raised over £1300 profit for the PTA. We took over £1000 on the bar alone. So thanks to whoever put in the other 25 quid.

Hold on to your reindeer the Christmas fair is NEXT WEEK!!! Some people say it’s Christmas when the lights are switched on in Oxford Street. For others it’s the first time they hear Band Aid on the radio. For me, I know it is the season of goodwill when THE SILENT AUCTION GOES LIVE!!! And here it is: http://silentauction.ptaholytrinityschool.org.uk Get bidding, we have fabulous new lots being added all the time. And please keep your promises coming in. We have everything from bracelet making to cake baking being offered by our fabulous staff and parents share your brilliance with us. Heaven knows we need it.

You’ll be needing a Christmas Tree to put all your Christmas Fair purchases beneath, so why not buy one from us? You can order online here: http://ptaholytrinityschool.org.uk, pick up a flyer by the office or order forms will come home via book bag-mail this week. The trees are £30/£40/£50 for 4/5/6ft (+£5 if you want it delivered to your home) and they are brilliant quality. We had one last year and it even made the soap set from my mother-in-law seem better. Every purchase raises money for the PTA last orders at the xmas fair.

Speaking of which, there are a few things we need for the Christmas Fair:

  1. Dads some say there’s no place for traditional masculinity in the modern world. There is at our barbeque. Sign up on the Doodle link for the chance to roast your sausage. Grrrrr. http://doodle.com/2fhppk83as9n3p8h
  2. Bags you know that pile of bags that are too nice to throw away, but you don’t know what to do with them? You do now. All our various gift stalls could use big, strong bags for their wares, so please leave in the shed if you have any to spare. NB Dads: the mother of your child does not constitute an ‘old bag’ and is not to be left in the shed. Happens every year.
  3. Gifts we still need lovely gifts for our ‘No Parents Allowed’ stall, which allows your kids to buy and wrap you a secret present. If you’ve got some goodies in the present drawer, label them for the No Parents Allowed and leave in the shed. I’ve got a lovely soap set I’m donating.

Please remember to go via School Fundraising: http://www.schoolfundraising.org.uk/holy-trinity-ce-primaryfor all your Christmas shopping. Pass it on to the family. Or just buy your own Christmas presents and bill them. And keep selling those raffle tickets we have a long way to catch up to last year’s brilliant total.

Happy days to you all,

Mary Smyth (PTA Mastermind. Totally Lost-her-mind.)
