Dear Parents and Carers 09/09/2021
It has been lovely to have you all back on the school site this last week and to see so many of you attending the Meet the Teacher Meetings that have taken place so far – year 5’s meeting is tomorrow and year 4’s on Monday. Next week, the majority of our year 6 children will be going on their week long residential trip to Osmington Bay, we hope they have a wonderful time. Also next week, three members of our staff team will, at very short notice, be having operations. Please hold them in your thoughts and prayers that the operations go well and that they have speedy recoveries.
Our first group of Reception children will be starting school tomorrow and we very much look forward to welcoming them. The number of Reception children across the borough is significantly less than in previous years so we do still have places to fill if you are aware of families moving into the area do encourage them to come and see our wonderful early years’ provision.
Head teacher for the Day
At the Silent Auction, Abigail bid to be Head teacher for the Day – the day was today! Abigail’s first job was to appoint a deputy – she chose Emily. The girls have been very busy and in addition to meeting with myself, they have also had meetings with Michele Marcus (Chair of Governors), Lucy Ashby (Deputy Head) and Mr Bell (Site Manager). They gave out certificates in Celebration Worship and observed classes across school so they could report on what they had seen. I am hoping they will write something to include in next week’s newsletter.
Healthy Packed lunches
As a school, we encourage our children to eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of water so they are fit and ready to learn. Our school meals offer a great choice and provide a range of nutritional meals each day. For those of you who prefer your child to have a packed lunch, please ensure that it is a healthy one. For inspiration see below:

Children should not bring in chocolate, sweets or fizzy drinks in for lunch.
We are also a nut free school due to a number of pupils having a nut allergy.
We would also ask you not to send sweets and cakes in for birthdays due to the increasing number of dietary requirements but rather buy Birthday Books for the school which will have lasting value.
