Dear Parents and Carers 08/12/2022
It was a delight to watch the Nursery and Reception nativity performances of ‘We’re going on a baby hunt’ last Friday.
The Christmas Fair last Saturday was a wonderful occasion for us all to come together and have some fun. Thank you
to the PTA and all those who volunteered and helped in any way to make the Fair such a success. Do come and reclaim
your Tupperware boxes and tins asap before we have our end of term clear out.

Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day
Wednesday 14th December:
Christmas Jumper Day: Since 2012, millions of people put on their jazziest jumpers and donate £2 to Save the
Children to help make the world better for children. This year we plan to celebrate it on the day of our school
Christmas lunch! The UK government has promised to give the same amount as the public so every time you give £2 to
Save the Children, they give £2, doubling the funds. Save the Children will be passing on the donations to help mums
and babies in Kenya. https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/ The children must wear their usual school uniform
“bottom half” and remember, you don’t have to buy a Christmas jumper, you can just decorate one that you
already own.
We will also be having our Christmas lunch on this day. If your child is years 3-6 and doesn’t usually have a school
meal please make sure that you have made your payment via Scopay.
All school meal accounts for this term should now have been settled.

Information sent on behalf of Yaccub Enum, Infection Prevention and Control – Clinical Lead
The latest data shows that scarlet fever cases continue to remain higher than we would typically see at this time of
year. Currently, there is no evidence that a new strain is circulating. The increase is most likely related to high amounts
of circulating bacteria and social mixing.
Although rare, invasive Group A Streptococcus disease may occur when bacteria get into parts of the body where
bacteria are not usually found. This type of infection is called invasive Group A Streptococcal disease and can be very
serious and even life-threatening. There have been a number of recorded deaths in children recently.
Following the recent press release on the unusually high number of cases, parents and teachers are very concerned,
especially with children showing symptoms that may suggest scarlet fever. The attached Guidance and Frequently
Asked Questions provide useful information on symptoms to look out for and what we can do to minimise its spread.
If any children have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 or Influenza, parents/guardians can book their
vaccination at their GP surgery (for children aged 3 years and below). Alternatively, parents can use the link here to
book children’s covid vaccination online or here to book Flu vaccination online.

Get your spaces for F.U.E.L. now!
F.U.E.L. stands for (Feed Ur Everyday Lives). F.U.E.L. is something which Achieving for Children helps to run so that
young people can come to free clubs in the Easter, Summer and Winter holidays. Our AFC info page has more
information.
To be able to come along, young people need to be receiving benefits-tested free school meals. What this means is
that the people who look after these young people will have been told by someone who works for the Council in either
Richmond or Kingston that they can get free school meals.
Bookings are open on our website for the Winter holidays now! To book, you will need your code. This will be 17 digits
long and each child will have a different one. If you are not sure whether a child or young person you are working with
is eligible – please email fuel@achievingforchildren.org.uk
