Dear Parents and Carers 28/04/22
Prayer Space
This week, all children and staff have been given an opportunity to spend some time in a Prayer Space. Our Prayer
Space this year was designed to help the children reflect on aspects of our school vision. Our vision is to have nurtured
children to love learning, love one another and love God. We sum this up as:
‘Love learning, love one another, love God.’
Children were given an opportunity to reflect upon things that they love about school and things that they find
challenging about school, particularly in their learning. They were able to think about how each of us is unique and
also to consider reconciliation between individuals and nations. There was also time to reflect on the awesomeness of
the universe and think about God’s part in this whilst also considering the awesomeness of themselves and consider
the love that God offers to them. There were six different activities to help the children in their reflections and for
those that wished, prayers. Thank you to all the parents who have made our school Prayer Space possible this week by
volunteering their time and talents.
Story Writers
Last term, some of our children took the opportunity to enter the 'Screen Your Story' competition for the chance to
have their writing published in a book and possibly even made into a film. The challenge involved writing a story with a
maximum of 500 words on the theme of 'Saving the Planet' and we are delighted to announce that Tom (Year 2) and
Anthony (Year 6) have been announced as winners. Their stories will be published in a book called 'Stories for the
Young' and they have been invited to a special awards ceremony to receive their own copy. Congratulations Tom and
Anthony!
Barnes Trip
Many thanks to parents and carers who have already paid the £5.25 contribution towards the Barnes Children's
Literature Festival trip. Thank you also to those who have 'overpaid' to help cover the cost of the trip. All the classes
from Reception to Year 6 are taking part and details have been sent out in a previous ParentMail. Please could you pay
via your Scopay account if you have not done so already. Currently, we have £1072.25 outstanding and we need to
receive this amount in order for the trip to go ahead.
Break time fruit
Our playground monitors have reported that they have seen a number of children bringing in snacks at break time that
are not a piece of fruit. They would like me to remind everyone that children in the early years and key stage 1 have a
piece of fruit provided by school that is paid for by the government. Key stage 2 children are encouraged to bring in a
piece of fruit for their break time, should they wish to, but not a range of alternatives. Thank you for your support
with this.
