Dear Parents and Carers 10/11/2022
Year 5 visit Holly Lodge

Year 5 had a great time on their trip to The Holly Lodge Centre where they experienced what life would have been like
for a Victorian child in Mrs Sawyer's classroom. They learned about 'The 3 R's' and also got to see some of the
punishments on offer for poor behaviour or performance! They all enjoyed it very much.
Anti-Bullying Week
Next week is anti-bullying week across the UK and has the theme Reach Out. We will begin the week with Odd Socks
Day – children can wear odd socks on Monday as a way to celebrate what makes us all unique.

Learning to understand and manage conflict is an important part of growing up. Bullying is not simply 'falling out':
Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the
relationship involves an imbalance of power. It can happen face to face or online. (The Anti Bullying Alliance)

please let Mrs Prendergast (lprendergast@htprimary.com) know by 9am tomorrow. The cost is £2.70 for children in
years 3 – 6 unless you are entitled to free school meals.
Community Christmas Choir
Holy Trinity Church are organising a community choir to sing at their Candlelit Carol Service on 11th December. If any
parents would like to join in with singing several traditional carols plus some choir performance items (men are
especially welcome to join!), or would like to know more about rehearsal times etc, then please contact Matt Osgood
via matt.osgood@htrichmond.org.uk. Music reading is helpful but not essential as recordings of all parts will be
provided.
Free Christmas Cycle Club
During the Christmas holidays ‘The Cycle Coach’ will be hosting 4 days of cycling for children that are in receipt of Free
School Meals. The sessions will be from 10.00-14.00, Monday 19th – Thursday 22nd December at St Richards CE
Primary School, Ashburnham Road, Richmond, TW10 7NL. A hot meal will be provided and a bike and helmet can be
provided if children do not have their own.
Unique Booking Code: Parents will need to enter a unique 17-digit code which has been provided by the school from
Richmond Council (Achieving for Children). The codes which end in the letter A signify that a child is eligible for free
school meals. If a child's code ends in the letters B, C or D they are not eligible but are otherwise vulnerable. Children
with codes ending in B/C/D should take up no more than 15% of the daily allocation of places.
