Dear Parents and Carers 17/11/2022

Year 3 trip

Year 3 went on a fabulous school trip on Monday where the children had the opportunity to immerse themselves into
Stone Age life. The trip started by examining real Stone Age artefacts at Gunnersbury Park Museum before heading
outside. Year 3 then had the chance to practise throwing spears, building dens, hunting for food and chanting like
Stone Age people. We also had a fabulous time in the playground too. It would have been a shame to go that far and
not have a go on the zip wire!

Karis Kids

Karis Kids is a charity based in Kampala, Uganda. Holy Trinity Church already has links with this charity and has
sponsored children to receive an education for many years. During the Summer holidays, Mrs Lambert went to Uganda
and saw some of the work that the charity does and the people it supports. Last Friday, Ketta, who works for Karis Kids
in Uganda, visited Holy Trinity to tell us more about it and how we might be able to help. Karis Kids provide beds,
water filters, medical fees, school fees and school uniforms for children to enable them to get an education that they
otherwise may not be able to afford.

Anti-bullying week

This week is anti-bullying week across the UK and has the theme Reach Out.

Learning to understand and manage conflict is an important part of growing up. It is therefore important to know the
difference between bullying and simply ‘falling out’ when discussing this with your children. The Anti Bullying Alliance
definition is:
Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the
relationship involves an imbalance of power. It can happen face to face or online. (The Anti Bullying Alliance).

Parent Governor elections

As one of our parent Governors will be stepping down at Christmas time, we will soon be holding an election for
another parent governor. If you think you might be interested and would like to find out more, you would be welcome
to attend the next Full Governing Body Meeting as an observer at 6.15 on 5th December and/or have a chat to our
Chair of Governors, Michele Marcus mmarcus@htprimary.com. Do let us know if you plan to attend the meeting.

Reverse Advent Calendar

We will once again be running a ‘ Reverse Advent Calendar’ in every class. The idea is that, the children will
think about giving as well as receiving and of those children who would appreciate a gift over the Christmas
period. This year we will again be supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal.

Thank you

Community Christmas Choir

Holy Trinity Church are organising a community choir to sing at their Candlelit Carol Service on 11th December. If any parents
would like to join in with singing several traditional carols plus some choir performance items (men are especially welcome to
join!), or would like to know more about rehearsal times etc, then please contact Matt Osgood via
matt.osgood@htrichmond.org.uk. Music reading is helpful but not essential as recordings of all parts will be provided.

Home Start Volunteers

If you have some free time after Christmas, and you are a parent or grandparent, you could help other families with pre-school
children. Local charity Home-Start is offering a free course to train you to be a home-visiting volunteer, supporting families with difficulties such as post-natal illness, bereavement or disability. The course will run in Whitton 9.45am-2.30pm, on Tuesdays from 31 January to 21 March (not half-term 14 Feb). After the course, you would visit a family for 2-3 hours a week. For more information, please contact Angie Ahmed angie@homestart-rkh.org.uk or 07884 536161. Registered charity no: 110897
