Dear Parents and Carers 26/01/2023
Teacher Strike next Wednesday
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, you will be aware that the National Education Union (NEU) has announced some proposed strike days, the first of which is next Wednesday 1st February.
Teachers are not compelled to inform their Headteacher of their plans to strike however those teachers at Holy Trinity who intend to strike have done so and have informed parents of their class by ParentMail today to ensure you have time to make childcare arrangements.
It is important to differentiate between the arrangements in place for school closure/opening during the Covid pandemic and these proposed strike days. Unlike during the Covid lockdowns where classes were covered by other teachers or staff if a teacher was absent, for the purpose of a strike day, there will be no arrangements put in place to cover the class of a teacher who has chosen to strike, meaning there will be no school for that class on that given day so as not to undermine the action they are taking. Schools locally will have varying numbers of NEU members so the impact of the potential strike will differ from school to school.
I appreciate that this will cause disruption to some of our families but hope you will respect this situation in order to try to improve the education system and school funding going forward.
Young Voices at the O2
Members of our choir performed as part of a 9,000 strong Young Voices Choir on Monday night at the O2 Arena to a packed-out stadium of family and friends. Heather Small, the Beatbox Collective, Urban Strides and the extraordinary violinist Anna Phoebe performed for and alongside the children. We felt extremely proud of the contribution Holy Trinity made and it was lovely to see the choir having so much fun together – an amazing time was had by all.
Parent Prayer Meeting
Our parent prayer meeting will be meeting again on Thursday 2nd February between 9-10am in the Kingfisher Hut. All are welcome and we’d love you to join us for a cup of tea/coffee, cake and a time of prayer for our school community and also for one another. It’s a very relaxed and friendly meeting, so please do feel free to stay for as long as you can. If you aren’t able to join us but would value prayer, please send your requests to Nina Barclay by email at barclaynina7@gmail.com
Psalm 5:3: ‘In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
