History progression of skills

Intent

At Holy Trinity School, pupils are encouraged to be historians and ask perceptive questions that inspire their curiosity about events from the past. Our curriculum is intended to support children in gaining key knowledge and events from history whilst enabling them to understand the chronology of events and how change has happened over time.

It is designed to enable all pupils to gain an understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. By studying the past, pupils develop a deeper understanding of the present world around them and a greater sense of their own identity. Studying history also helps inspire children’s curiosity and encourages them to ask critical questions about the world and local area in which they live.
