At Holy Trinity pupils are encouraged to be historians and ask perceptive questions that inspire their curiosity about events from the past. Our curriculum supports children in gaining key knowledge and events from history enabling them to understand the chronology of events and how change has happened over time. It is designed to enable all pupils to gain an understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.
The skills and knowledge explored and developed have been carefully planned and mapped out in our history progression of skills map. This map ensures all pupils are learning and building upon vital historical skills and knowledge each year as they progress through their primary education.
Every historical topic taught at Holy Trinity will be explored through four key concepts:
- Investigate and interpret the past
- Understand world history
- Understand chronology
- Communicate historically
