Dear Parents and Carers
Year 4 trip to Kew Gardens
Year 4 visited Kew gardens on Tuesday. The children explored the unique and diverse rainforest habitat first-hand, developing their knowledge on rainforests in geography and science by:
● Identifying the location and conditions of the rainforest using appropriate vocabulary.
● Exploring how plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways.
● Constructing and interpreting food chains in a rainforest environment.
● Recognising the importance of plants in the food chain and naming some of the positive and negative effects humans have on the rainforest habitats.
The children also worked scientifically by observing, taking measurements and asking questions about rainforest habitats and exploring the relationships between the rainforest plants, animals and people. They also had great fun in the playground too.
