Dear Parents and Carers 16/06/2022
As you may be aware, we are expecting very high temperatures this week and we would like to ensure your child is well protected from the heat whilst at school. Please apply sunscreen before they come to school. It is essential that your child brings their water bottle to school which can be refilled during the day as needed. Children should also bring a named sun hat which covers their head, neck and ears for their PE Lessons and playtimes – baseball hats do not shield the neck, ears or face so are not ideal. We will encourage the children to minimise the amount of time they spend in the sun, to seek out shade and to minimise the amount of running around they do.
Can I also remind you that children should not ride their bikes or scooters in the school grounds in order to prevent accidents? Similarly, please don’t allow your children to play on school equipment before or after school as we are not insured for any accidents that take place during these times.
We also expect the correct school uniform to be worn right through until the end of term including footwear. Trainers should not be worn unless it is PE day and then should be in the correct colour. Please help support us with keeping our school community looking smart.
Pyjamarama Day
Before half term, the Nursery took part in “Pyjamarama Day”. Nursery children around the country spent the day reading, enjoying, and sharing stories in the comfort of their pyjamas to raise funds to help every child get a bedtime story and to support their families. The children managed to raise an amazing £62.50 for this very special cause. The children had lots of fun reading stories, making special bookmarks and they even got to listen to a live reading of “The Rapping Princess” by the author of the story, Hannah Lee. They snuggled up together to listen to this with some biscuits and hot chocolate too. The children had a lovely day and were very proud of the money they had raised.
Rose Theatre
Our Junior and Infant choirs performed at the Rose Theatre in Kingston this week. They have been working so hard and sang their hearts out – we had so much fun! I couldn’t be more proud of them and I’m sure those of you there would agree that they sounded wonderful. Thank you to everyone for your support and a huge congratulations to our children in the choirs. Miss Ashby.
Jubilee Book
Every child in years Reception to year 6 will come home with a copy of the book pictured above as a memento of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. These books have been sent to primary school children across the country by the Department for Education.
Missing Scooter
Could you please check that this scooter has not somehow ended up at your home? It went missing from the playground last month and despite a couple of ParentMails, has not yet been recovered. It is foldable which distinguishes it from most other scooters and it had “R” written on the inside of the bar and “RA” written underneath the foot board. ’R’ is understandably very sad and would love to have it back.

Parent Empowerment Event
Join us for an evening of encouragement, empowerment and community. As we gather together to support each other to help raise an emotionally and relationally healthy next generation. Whether we admit it or not we have an unspoken epidemic among our young people and the cause is the p**n industry…. Your children are being targeted: they are the consumer. As LVA Trust we want to be having the conversation with parents about how to addresses this. Join us at our Parent Talk to get equipped and feel empowered to face this ever-increasing challenge.
