Newsletter 14th July 2022

Dear Parents and Carers 14/07/2022
Feeling hot, hot, hot!
As we are anticipating the temperature to rise even further next week, we continue to seek and be provided with
advice from the local authority and government. Some of the measures that we have, and will continue to put in place
to avoid heat stroke include:
         Encouraging children playing outdoors to stay in the shade as much as possible
         Preventing children taking part in vigorous physical activity
         Encouraging families to send in wide brimmed sun hats
         Encouraging families to apply sunscreen on their children before attending school
         Encouraging children to drink plenty of water
         Opening windows as early as possible in the morning before children arrive to allow stored heat to escape
         If there is direct sunshine on a classroom, awnings and blinds will be used to minimise this and children moved
away from direct sunshine in the classroom
         Electric lighting will be kept to a minimum
         Oscillating mechanical fans will be used to increase air movement
If the advice changes, we will of course respond accordingly and keep you informed.
It is a busy time of year with lots of different things taking place – we will have the Summer Concert and our ‘moving
up’ day on Monday when children will meet their next year’s teachers, the Sports Awards Assembly will take place on
Tuesday, the Stars Awards Assembly on Wednesday and our Leavers Assembly on Thursday.
We will finish at 2.15 next Thursday – please collect your child on time and remember to take home any bikes or
scooters.
House Point Winners
As Pankhurst have won the house point cup the most times this term, all those in Pankhurst house can come to school
wearing yellow tomorrow if they so wish.
Secondment and school leadership
It was announced last week that Miss Ashby is going on a secondment. We are now able to share some more detail
with you about this. Lucy is going to be heading to a five-form entry junior school in Fleet, Hampshire with an initial
request for this to be for two terms. We will obviously miss having Lucy at Holy Trinity but wish her well – I am sure
she will have them all singing there before too long! Lucy says: Sixteen years has flown by! Thank you to everyone for
all your kind words and warm wishes; I am excited about my new challenge but am under no illusion about how much
I will miss our HT community and our children in particular. They put a smile on my face every day. I'm already looking
forward to coming back to some of our events over the next couple of terms. Have a wonderful, restful summer.

Meanwhile, here at Holy Trinity, we are trying to plug some of the gaps that Lucy’s secondment will leave. We will be
welcoming Rachael MacLearn, another Richmond Deputy, who will join us two days a week to lead on some of the
strategic matters whilst Mrs Whiteside will be stepping up to cover some aspects of the role too including the more
day to day issues. One of our talented parents will be leading our Key stage 2 choir and our whole school singing
assemblies and we have a new teacher, Mrs Allard, who will teach alongside Mrs Lambert in year 6 on Fridays.
Year 6 SATs
We are very proud of our year 6 cohort who performed incredibly well in their recent SATs.

Thank you too to their wonderful teachers and support staff who have helped them achieve so well in school and for
the support you provide out of school.
Year 6 Production

Having now obtained some photographic evidence, I wanted to share how amazing our year 6 production was last
week. Star Warts: The Umpire Strikes Back was an intergalactic musical comedy with so many hilarious one-liners it was
hard to keep up. The children performed their lines and songs superbly and the costume and props were a visual feast.
Thank you to everyone involved in making the production possible.

Year 6 Leavers Service

Year 6 attended a Leavers Service at Southwark Cathedral yesterday alongside a number of other Church of England
Primary schools in our diocese. They then had a picnic by the river and went to see the Golden Hinde before heading
back to school.
Year 6 Party

Year 6 enjoyed a wonderful tropical themed leavers party last night. The large inflatable provided great fun and
entertainment – for staff and children alike!
Sports Day
Thank you to Mr Callaghan for organising our Sports Day last Friday. The children had a great time taking part and
supporting one another. It was so lovely to be able to have parents attend this year – and take part in the highly
competitive parent races!

HTs Got Talent

We certainly do have great talent in our midst! Years 1-6 all took part in our talent competition on Monday providing a
vast array of acts that entertained us all. All our competitors are pictured above and our KS1 and KS2 winners – Anna
was able to complete the Rubik cube with the all of the audience’s eyes on her twice in a very short period of time
whilst Phineas and Felix absolutely amazed us with their stunning parkour routine.
Kingfisher Breakfast Club
For those of you who access the Kingfisher Breakfast Club on an ad hoc basis, the cost will be £4.00 or £4.50 for early
drop-off at 7.45am from September.
Year 1 Outdoor area
Year 1 are looking to develop their outdoor play area. Please see a list of requests at the end of the newsletter.
Grab a book – cancelled
Due to a number of staff being absent this week and considering the extreme heat we are experiencing, we have
cancelled this event. We do hope you will all keep reading with your children over the summer though.
