Dear Parents and Carers 19/01/2023
Despite the cold, it has been nice to see the sunshine flooding into the classrooms this week and to see some blue sky.
This is such a short half term and hard to believe that in three weeks we will have a break! A couple of dates for the diary before then are Parent Consultation Meetings on Wednesday 8th February between 2 and 7pm – booking will go live at 9am on 1st February – and a Share your Learning morning between 9am and 10am on Friday 10th February. I hope you can make both.
Teacher Strike Action
You may be aware from media coverage that the NEU have declared strike action because of a national dispute between the unions and the government. The strikes are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 1 February 2023, Thursday 02 March 2023, Wednesday 15 March 2023 and Thursday 16 March 2023. I wanted to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted in some classes on these dates as some of our teachers are members of this union. We recommend that you start to make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates. I’m sorry about the uncertainty and potential disruption but ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. As the picture becomes clearer, I will inform you of how the strikes will impact our school.
New Parent Governor
Thank you so much to all those who engaged with the Parent Governor election. It appears that the electronic voting encouraged more people to vote than in previous elections. I am pleased to be able to announce that Chris Milsom, who has a child in Nursery and a child in year 2, is our new parent governor. We look forward to welcoming Chris to our next Full Governing Body meeting later this month.
