Dear Parents and Carers 02/03/2023
World Book Day
It wasn’t just the children who had fun dressing up! The children have all had time with two authors over the last two
days – David Mason and Ned Hartley.
Y3 Walking
Year 3 have spent much of this week taking part in the Richmond Safe Walking course. In small groups, they were
guided by 'experts' around the local area. They spent time discussing the safest ways in which to cross different types
of roads and then putting their new-found knowledge into practise. They have now all passed the qualification and will
be receiving certificates celebrating their newly-acquired skills. One child even commented that their parents could do
with going on a refresher course – cheeky!
Old Smart Phones
We would gratefully receive any old smart phones capable of taking photos. Ideally, we would like one for each class,
solely for the purpose of taking photos, to simplify the process of capturing learning and special events. This will avoid
the need to seek out the school camera and missing the moment. Many thanks!
Prime and Pokemon Cards
Please do not send your child in with Prime to drink – either in a Prime bottle or in any other container including their
water bottles. Also, please do not allow your child to bring Pokemon cards into school as some have been lost or
swapped unwisely leading to very unhappy children. Thank you for your support with these matters.
Strikes
From the ongoing media coverage, you may well be aware that the NEU has two further national strike days scheduled
– Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16 March. I wanted to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be
disrupted in some classes on these dates as some of our teachers are members of this union. We recommend that you
start to make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates. I’m sorry about the uncertainty and potential
disruption but ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. As the picture
becomes clearer, as previously, you will be informed of how the strikes will impact our school.

March 13th is the start of Neurodiversity Celebration Week, 2023. 'On the Ball' is a programme for families to have fun,
build skills, meet peers to learn inclusion strategies together. It is run by the parent-led organisation Act-attain which

run in partnership with BFC CST. It leads into Fun in the Sun – holiday activities in small peer groups learning skills for tennis,
