Dear Parents and Carers 07/12/2023
Advent in Nursery
Our nursery children had a busy but very lovely time on the first day of advent….
New Co-chairs of Governors
Mr Francis Neal and Revd Eils Osgood have been appointed as Co-chairs of Governors. This is a vital, strategic role that
has significant impact on the overall success of the school. We are so grateful to them for taking on this important role
in the midst of their busy lives, especially as they already give so freely of their time and energy to the school.
School Street
Carrington Road is a School Street – this means that the road temporarily closes to reduce vehicle access during the
school's opening and closing times. This however does not mean that there will be no traffic during these times as
residents, and those with exemptions, are still allowed to drive along the road. Please walk along the footpaths to
ensure the safety of all. I would also ask all parental interactions to be kind and polite to encourage our children to do
the same. THANK YOU.
Curriculum Review
We have invited the local authority in to review our curriculum next Wednesday. Our School Improvement Partner will
be in the playground on Wednesday morning to capture your views on the curriculum i.e. what your children are
learning. Hopefully you will have seen this in their books or heard them talk about it and the school trips that they
have been on linked to their learning. The information is also provided at the start of each term and via the website.
Christmas Events during the coming week
Tuesday 12th December: Years 1 & 2 Nativity at 9.30am
Thursday 14th December: Nursery & Reception Nativity at 9.30am
After both of these performances, we will take a collection for The Children's Society who fight for the hope and
happiness of young people when they are threatened by abuse, exploitation or neglect. They also provide us with
resources for our up and coming Christingle Celebrations. https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/
Thursday 14th December: Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day
Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children's annual event which raises money for the children who need it most. Put
on your most Christmassy jumper, donate £2 to Save the Children and help children everywhere get the best future
ever. Normal school uniform should be worn apart from the Christmas jumper – it is not a non-uniform day. Here is a
link to show some of the work the charity does: https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/christmas-jumper-day/how-you-help
Looking ahead
Key Stage 2 Christmas Carol Service will take place at 6pm on Monday 18th December. All junior children (years 3-6)
are expected to attend and must wear their school uniform. They should arrive at 5.30pm for a prompt start.
Christingle All children will be making Christingles ready for the Christingle Celebrations on the afternoon of
Wednesday 19th December. Please send your child in on Monday with an orange and a minimum donation of £1
which will be sent to the Children’s Society. We will provide all the other bits they will need to make their Christingles.
Our whole school end of term service will take place at Holy Trinity Church at 9.30am on Thursday 21st December.
You are all welcome to attend.
Break up: school will finish at 2.15pm on Thursday 21st December.
Spring Term: Children return to school on Tuesday 9th January 2024.
Visit to the Mayor
Theo had a lovely time at the prize presentation party of the Mayor’s Christmas Card yesterday evening and we are so
proud that his card was made the council leader’s official card. Well done Theo.
Christmas Services at Holy Trinity Church
