Friday 24th May
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a fabulous week in school, packed full with lots of trips and visits. A highlight was definitely our assembly that Year 5 led for us this morning. We learnt about the bizarre names that children had in Victorian times, the characteristics of the Greek gods, were treated to an episode of ‘Who wants to be an explora-naire!’, learning a bit about the race to the pole and enjoyed two wonderful songs. Thank you so much Year 5!Many of us also had a great time at the PTA Quiz night on Friday – such a fun evening! Thank you to our fabulous PTA team for organising it, for those that made all the delicious curries and to everyone who came along to support it. Next up is the summer fair!
Trips, visits and events |
Ladybird’s had great fun at Forest School
Year 1 enjoyed a morning of forest school activities this week. They made miniature rafts from sticks and string which they floated on our pond, spotted some of our resident newts and made flags by pressing green leaves into cotton.
In with a splash as yr 6 visit Thames Young Mariners
The sun shone on our Leopards and Lions as they enjoyed an action packed day kayaking and paddleboarding on the water at Thames Young Mariners on Monday. Having spoken to many of the children I think I can safely say that much of the time was spent ‘in’ the water!
HT sing at the Rose Theatre
On Tuesday the KS2 choir and some of the Y2 children in the KS1 choir gave an amazing performance in a borough wide singing festival at the Rose Theatre in Kingston. They took centre stage, giving a beautiful rendition of Pompeii by Bastille and Umbrella by Rhianna, along with singing 4 songs with other schools. We were incredibly proud of them!
Kingfisher and Rainbow classes enjoyed an exciting afternoon with a visit from the Firefighters.
Our children in nursery and reception learnt all about what it takes to be a Firefighter – you need to be brave, fit and fast! They had an opportunity to explore the fire engine and even had a chance to practise their skills with the water hose! A big thank you to all the fighter fighters from the ‘White Watch’ team based at Richmond Fire Station.
Foxes and Badgers lead assembly
Here are a few snippets of our wonderful Yr 5 assembly this morning. What a fabulous way to start a friday!
Prayer Space
We have really enjoyed our prayer space activities that we have been taking part in this week. Thank you so much to all the staff and volunteers from HT church for all their hard work and preparation and for leading us through this. The children have really loved it!
Message from Mrs Evans |
Well I can’t believe that we are already at half-term. What a wonderful start to the summer term! It was lovely to start the day with the Year 5 assembly – the children were so confident and it put us all in such a positive mood. I had the pleasure of meeting with our school improvement partner from the local authority this morning who was incredibly impressed with all that has been taking place. I would like to wish you all a very happy half-term and look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday 4th June.
Notices and requests |
Congratulations and farewell to Mrs Whiteside
We would like to wish huge congratulations to Mrs Whiteside on her new role for September as deputy head teacher at Malden Parochial. While we are extremely excited for her we will miss her greatly. Mrs Whiteside first started at HT in 2006 and likens HT to Hotel California – despite having several breaks over the years to move abroad and teach elsewhere, you just can’t leave! She is really looking forward to her new chapter, but Holy Trinity will always hold a very special place in her heart. Thank you so much for all your hardwork and dedication to our children over the years!
Welcome back Miss Merrett!
Today we welcomed back Miss Merrett from maternity leave. The children and staff were delighted to see her! We are delighted that Miss Matheson will be staying with us until the end of this term too.
Birthday Book
We love to celebrate birthdays within our community! If you would like to bring something in to mark your child’s birthday and help with that special feeling we would love to encourage you to send in a birthday book for the class to share as an alternative to sweets. This supports us as a healthy school and it is lovely to share a story with the children, as opposed to a dentist appointment! Happy Birthday to Twyla and thank you for your birthday book!
NSPCC Speak out, stay safe
The week after half term is Child Safety Week. We will be participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out, Stay safe programme to support our children with how to keep themselves safe. We will lead an assembly on 5th June followed by workshops for Years 2, 5 and 6 on the 11th June. We have sent out more information in a letter via parentmail so keep a look out if you have not yet seen it.
Nut free lunches
Please be really careful about not sending in food containing nuts into school so that we can support and protect our children with allergies. Please be mindful that pine nuts contained in pesto are included. Thank you for your support with this.
We are clocking up the miles for HT – Surrey Hills this week!
https://skylarks.enthuse.com/pf/sophie-brunt
Miss Brunt and Mr Thomson are joining the PTFA and some members of the HT community in a cycle from Richmond to Paris at the end of June. This is a huge challenge for anyone to complete in just two days. They have been continuing to train hard – here they are at the top of Leith Hill with the team!
They are raising money for the school and your children. Please do give generously to the link below; it is all going to a great cause – 50% of the funds raised to HT school and 50% to Skylarks, an independent Richmond upon Thames-based charity that provides activities and therapies for children with disabilities and additional needs.
