Newsletter 22nd November 2024

Friday 22nd November 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all our families that came in to meet our staff for parent consultations this week. We strive to communicate as best we can with everyone and really hope that these sessions were informative and supportive. We have had the Scholastic Book Fair in school this week too – we hope you have enjoyed perusing and investing in some new books, the school gets a significant percentage to buy books from the sales so thank you very much!

Trips, visits and events

Year 6 enjoyed Forest School

Roe class thoroughly enjoyed their morning at Forest School on Monday. Highlights were the ropes and cooking and eating the smores!

Year 1 explored Sheen Common

Year 1 walked a trail on Sheen Common as part of their Geography learning exploring our local area. They looked for features and landmarks, and practised staying safe while out and about.

Message from Mrs Evans

This week our staff have had the chance to share information with you all about the progress that the children have already made this year. It was wonderful to see so many of you on Wednesday night and to hear about the positive conversations that had taken place. Thank you to our class teachers for the time and effort that went into preparing for these sessions.

Today in worship, we focused on this Bible verse: Matthew 7:1-2 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” We began by considering what it means to ‘judge’ something or someone. I shared last year’s Christmas advert created by John Lewis: ‘The Perfect Christmas Tree’ and we considered the fact that the word ‘perfect’ is incredibly subjective…what is perfect to one person may not be perfect to someone else. I challenged the children to consider that just because this tree looks different to a ‘traditional’ Christmas tree, does it mean that it could not be perfect?

We reflected again on the message of Matthew 7:1-2 and I asked the children to reflect on what they do when they see someone or something that seems ‘different’. I explained that we have two options – we can judge by what we have always known and decide that different is a negative thing, or we can seek to understand more. We talked about the importance of asking questions and being open to learning more about differences and the richness that comes from these differences within our community.

Notices and requests

Christmas Fair: Lucky Dip Stall

The Junior Leadership Team will be running the lucky dip stall at the Christmas Fair once again this year to help raise funds for our school. They are looking for donations of any small toys that are in a good condition. Please leave them at the school office or take them directly to Mr Auton in Woodpecker Class. We will be very grateful for any donations received. Thank you in advance from Mr Auton and the Junior Leadership Team.

Calling all Runners!

If your child currently runs any of the park runs at the weekends please could you send their times and the events they participated in to Mr Callaghan ( lcallaghan@htprimary.com), we would like to celebrate any personal best times and milestones reached! We would also like to encourage more children to start running and feel that the park Run 2K event will be a good way to help our children develop their running skills and build our community spirit. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at how we can continue to build on our great relationship with Real Runners. If you would like to sign up for the park runs, please do consider signing up as an HT Run Club member! https://www.parkrun.com/about/join-us/junior-parkrun/

International Food Stall at the Christmas fair

It’s hard to believe that Christmas celebrations are just round the corner and for us that means another special event – the return of the International Food Stall at the Christmas fair.

Back by popular demand, the stall was a smash hit last year with many satisfied customers enjoying the delights on offer. There is no better way to celebrate the diversity and richness of our different cultures at Holy Trinity than by treating the school community to a taste of your speciality dish.

So to all you budding Masterchefs, happy bakers or enthusiastic amateurs please get involved and bring a platter (or more!) of your own special taste of home to help raise funds for the school and make a lot of people’s tummys happy. Please let your class rep know what you’ll be bringing (nothing is too small) so we’ll have an idea of quantity and don’t forget our nut free policy.

Other than that, the world’s your oyster and we look forward to showcasing your dishes to the parents, staff and children.

As always, your continuous support is greatly appreciated, HT friends. Have a wonderful weekend, Best wishes, Miss Ashby. Instagram: @HolyTrinityschrichmond
