Dear Parents and Carers ,
Thank you so very much to everyone who volunteered and gave their time to support our Christmas Fair on Saturday, it was a huge success! Several people commented on what a wonderful community event it was and how friendly and warm our community is. I felt so proud! A prospective parent said that they particularly loved how organic it was involving everyone and the lovely diverse mix of different stalls and celebrations. The JLT ran a stall to raise money for a charity chosen by themselves, the choir sang and Mr Trollip- one of our teachers- sang with his band. I was sorry that I didn’t make it to the spa – it seemed super relaxing! Thank you for all your donations of bottles, cakes and toys and to those of you that brought delicious contributions to our International Food stall. A special thank you goes to Phil, the chair of our PTA, who is stepping down as he is moving to Australia over the holidays. We have been so lucky to have you and Helen and are tremendously grateful for all the time and support you have both given our school community.
Trips, visits and events |
Ladybirds had a great time at Forest School!
Ladybird class had lots of fun at forest schools on Monday. We linked our learning to our science topics – Animals, including humans and the Seasons. The children made animals out of clay, played in the mud kitchen, built swings and ladders from ropes and hunted for soft birds around the forest school area!
HT Rockbandz and orchestra perform in concert
Our fantastic rockbandz and orchestras invited the school and their parents to two concerts this week. They shared their wonderful talents and got everyone singing and clapping! Thank you so much!
The choir sang at church for their community lunch
“The children sang so beautifully, there were lots of tears on my table! Lots of people said afterwards how special it was and what a wonderful selection of songs it was.”
Boys football matches
It’s been a busy week for our year 5/6 boys football teams. On Wednesday we competed in the Borough tournament where we finished the morning undefeated. Unfortunately we were knocked out at the group stages of the cup by the eventual winners. The boys performed brilliantly and were unlucky not to progress further.
On Thursday we played two matches against Marshgate; despite playing really well the Marshgate goalkeeper made some excellent saves and we lost the games 2-0. Today we head over to Moormead Park to take on St Mary’s.
Message from Mrs Evans |
Things are getting very busy at school in the lead-up to Christmas. Lots of practice for various performances and it was lovely to hear about the performances by RockBandz this week to showcase what they have been working on. It was great to be able to spend the day with Mr George on Tuesday and I know that he enjoyed meeting many parents and carers at the gate. He will be with me again for the morning on Friday 13th December, so do please come and say hello when we are at the gate in the morning on Carrington Road.
In worship today, we lit the next Advent Candle which represents Peace. We began by focusing on the message given by the angels when they visited the shepherds to tell them about the birth of Jesus: Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests”. We considered what the word ‘peace’ means, exploring the fact that when something is peaceful it is calm and settled. We then thought about ways that we can bring ‘peace’ to our school community in the way that we act towards one another within the classroom and playgrounds, in the way that we move around the school and in how we speak to one another.

Calling all Runners!
If your child currently runs any of the park runs at the weekends please could you send their times and the events they participated in to Mr Callaghan (lcallaghan@htprimary.com), we would like to celebrate any personal best times and milestones reached! We would also like to encourage more children to start running and feel that the park Run 2K event will be a good way to help our children develop their running skills and build our community spirit. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at how we can continue to build on our great relationship with Real Runners.
If you would like to sign up for the park runs, please do consider signing up as an HT Run Club member!
