Friday 20th December 2024
Dear Parents and Carers ,
I hope you will join me in thanking our junior children, Nina and Matt for leading and sharing such a beautiful carol service on Monday evening. Thank You all for your support and encouragement; it is such a special time of year and I hope you enjoyed it as much as the children have enjoyed putting it together. Well done to all our soloists, musicians and readers, you are so courageous!
What an incredibly busy and exciting term we have had. Looking back, it seems a lifetime ago that our Year 6 children packed their bags and left for a week in Dorset! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their dedication and hard work in supporting and teaching our children, you thoroughly deserve a holiday.
I would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Evans who has spent the last two terms juggling two schools in order to support us and lead us at HT. Thank you for the genuine kindness and love that you have shown our community and for your wisdom and direction. I can’t express how grateful we are.
Have a wonderful Christamas and a restful break and we look forward to seeing you back in January.
Very warmest wishes, Miss Ashby.
Trips, visits and events |
Year 2 visited the Christmas Story at Duke Street
Dragonflies and Bumblebees spent Tuesday morning at Duke Street church learning about the Christmas story. The children loved the immersive experience and meeting Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and Wise men. The staff were hugely impressed with the children’s interest, involvement, behavior and particularly with the very big and relevant questions that they asked. We were so proud of them!
Christingle
Dan, our vicar, and Matt led us through our Christingle service on Tuesday; it was very special and was wonderful to see all their Christingles.
Swimming gala trials
On Tuesday we held our annual swimming gala trials, ready for the Borough swimming gala in February. Children from years 4-6 were invited to attend. If your child was not able to attend the trials and they would like to be considered for the gala please time them over 33 metres and send their times to Mr Callaghan before Friday 10th January 2025. To be considered for the gala all children must be confident and swim 33 metres without stopping. Children can be timed in front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly.
Park Run
Well done to Rene who completed his first park run last weekend with a time of 10:15!
Screen Your Story Competition
Some of your children may have taken part in the Screen Your Story competition over the last few years.
It is a chance for young storytellers to become a published author and even have their story turned into a film.
There is no theme this year – authors may write about anything they choose!
Entries must be no longer than 500 words and need to be submitted by the end of February 2025.
Stories will be sent to be judged externally and winners will be announced by April 1, 2025. The Winners’ Gala will be on Sunday June 29, 2025 at the Olympic Studios in Barnes.
If your child would like some tips on giving themselves the best chance of having their writing made into a film, as well as more information about this year’s theme, take a look at the website: www.screenyourstory.org/about
Entries can be submitted directly by email to screenyourstory@gmail.com clearly labelled with your child’s name, their age and school name. Don’t forget to also send a copy to their class teacher so that they can see the wonderful writing that is being produced.
Good luck to all the entrants! Miss Jobbins
Message from Mrs Evans |
What an exciting final week I have had here at Holy Trinity. It began with the wonderful Carol Service at Holy Trinity Church, followed by Christmas Lunch and jumper day on Wednesday and the lovely end of term service at the church this morning. I have been given some beautiful messages, prayers and gifts to remember my time at Holy Trinity and am so grateful for the way that you have all welcomed me into your community. I am already looking forward to my first chance to visit in the new year. To mark my time at the school, I have bought the school a little gift which George in Year 5 helped me to assemble – when I saw this new lego set I just couldn’t resist!
Wishing you all a restful Christmas break and a very happy new year.
