Newsletter 24th January 2025

Friday 24th January 2025

Dear Parents and Carers                ,

Our collective worship on Monday was led by Sue from Holy Trinity Church, who started to explore with us what Jesus spoke about on the Mount. The children selected to help were Kings and Queens for the day, and could look at what they wanted to bring to our world to make it a better place. All agreed that food for all, clean water and peace on earth were great aspirations to look to. We also explored how sometimes Jesus’ words can be ‘Topsy-Turvy’, with the first of us being last and the last of us being first in His Kingdom, and Sue helped us to explore this.

As the days lighten slightly and the weather slowly warms up, I wish you a peaceful weekend with your families.

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

Lunar New Year

On Wednesday 19th February, we will be celebrating Lunar New Year! Children can wear something red for the day (not football kits) and our wonderful kitchen staff will be linking their menu to support our celebrations.  Mr Hambling is leading an assembly the day before and Mrs Barclay will celebrate it in her singing assembly on Wednesday. We are excited about decorating our hall again with lanterns and bunting. Happy Lunar New Year to all that of our families for whom it is a special time for and welcome to the year of the snake!

Our choir performed at the O2

We are so proud of all of the children’s choir that sang as part of the largest children’s choir in the world! The children were buzzing with excitement the next day and had thoroughly enjoyed the immersive experience that the event offers. They performed a huge repertoire of songs including a medley of pop songs and some Bob Marley classics. They thoroughly enjoyed the live performances, the Urban Strides being a highlight as always!

Our staff praised the children for their behavior, effort and enthusiasm throughout the day, well done HT! A huge thank you to Mrs Barclay and the team who enabled this event to take place, and all our parents for your support. Hard to believe that it was our 17th year!

Bumblebees turn to explore Forest Schools!

Bumblebees had an amazing day at Forest School on Monday. They worked on teamwork, collaboration, and resilience through lots of hands-on activities. The mud kitchen was a big hit, and they had lots of fun making tin can telephones – connecting to our history topic of communication, now and then.  They also learnt about different animal habitats, linked to their science work,  and took part in bug hunting. They made Gods’ Eyes, bird feeders, and even animal homes for feathered friends;  a wonderful day of exploration, learning, and embracing nature!

HT’s Acts of Kindness

In our Friday assembly we talked about the positive impacts of random acts of kindness on our community. The children and staff shared different ways that they have showed kindness, including through smiles, sharing and helping others. We then talked about the footprint left when we show random acts of kindness. As a community we shared how this has made us feel and talked about the ripple effect of positivity. As a school community we have created a display board to share different ways that we have given and received kindness. As families you may want to continue this at home and within our community; here are some ideas.

Notices and requests

Mystery Readers

Calling anyone that would like to come in and share a story or a few chapters of a book with one of our classes, either in English or another language. The children just love it when our community comes in to read to them, bringing stories to life and deepening the understanding of the different cultures and languages that are part of our fabric. Please let either myself know or contact the class teacher or phase lead directly. Thank you in advance! Miss Ashby

Nursery applications

Applications for nursery enrolment in September 2025 close on March 1st.  If your child was born between 01/09/2021 and 31/08/2022 and you are interested in them joining our nursery, please email; lprendergast@htprimary.com for an application form, or download one from our website.  We also need to take a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport (with visa clearance if required).  Offers will be sent out in late April.

School Uniform

We are very proud of how smart our children look in their Holy Trinity uniforms. Please take time this weekend to check that your child is in the correct outfit for school, as we have seen a few individual items creeping in since our return.  Please also check that all uniforms are named, including coats.

In particular, please ensure that your child is wearing sensible black shoes (no trainers or boots) and that they are wearing smart  dark grey trousers or shorts.
