Friday 31st January 2025
Dear Parents and Carers ,
On Monday we had our Collective Worship from Matt Osgood from Holy Trinity Church. Matt spoke about superheroes and superpowers, and especially the superpower of Kindness. Matt also spoke about the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount, and how Jesus let everyone know how they might behave towards each other.
With the weather trying its best to warm up, I hope to get into the garden this weekend and start tidying after a very cold and blustery winter! We’re also planning to go out for a meal with my family to celebrate my wife’s birthday, as well as me getting in some much-needed guitar practice! I hope you have a lovely weekend with your family too.
Best wishes,
Mr George

Lunar New Year
On Wednesday, we joined as a community to celebrate Lunar New Year! We filled our hall with beautiful lanterns and lots of children wore something red for the day. Our chef, James, put together a wonderful pan-Asian menu and many of the children chose to try their skills with a pair of chopsticks!
In the nursery, the children really enjoyed their ‘Lunar New Year Street Carnival’. They were excited to welcome Mr George, take his food order and serve him a delicious meal. Later in the week, they used their fine motor skills to create beautiful origami snakes, cut out and order the animals in the Lunar New Year story and at the end of the week prepared fresh vegetables to make a healthy stir fry (enjoying a fortune cookie afterwards!).
We wish all of our families, for whom it is a special time, a very happy Lunar New Year!
Woodpeckers weather the weather during Forest Schools!
Year 4 donned their macs and pulled on their wellies to head out for Forest Schools on Monday. In line with their history topic, they enjoyed using clay to make Saxon jewellery, creating their own runes and adding natural colouring such as turmeric. Thank you to the elements for providing such a lot of extra mud for the mud kitchen and some super slides! The shelter building was a necessity and the rain really tested the quality!

Attached Aware Project
The Attachment Aware Schools Project Silver Award recognises our commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and supported. This initiative is rooted in understanding the impact of attachment and trauma on children’s learning and behaviour, enabling staff to respond with empathy and tailored strategies. As a school we are committed to ensuring we prioritise emotional well-being alongside academic progress, fostering stronger relationships, resilience, and a sense of belonging. We were delighted to achieve our bronze award last year and are now working on completing our silver award.
Parent Workshops
As a community, we are dedicated to supporting every child to thrive and reach their full potential. We are working with the mental health support team, MHST, on the ‘Attached Aware’ initiative. The team is extremely experienced in supporting children and families in a variety of different ways and is offering to run some parent workshops. These could be on supporting and managing:
- Anxiety
- Screen time and mental health
- Emotional regulation and children’s behavior
- Low mood
- Parental mental health
The sessions could be run at drop off with a coffee or virtually, depending on what is most supportive. If you could take 1 minute to complete the google form (only 3 tick box questions) we will organise the sessions. Alternatively, please email me at lashby@htprimary.com or catch me on the gate.
Mystery Readers
Thank you to our parents and families who have volunteered to come in to read a story/chapter of a book to our children. Please let me or the class teachers know if you would like to read with us. Thank you! Miss Ashby.
Nursery applications
Applications for nursery enrolment in September 2025 close on March 1st. If your child was born between 01/09/2021 and 31/08/2022 and you are interested in them joining our nursery, please email lprendergast@htprimary.com for an application form, or download one from our website. We also need to take a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport (with visa clearance if required). Offers will be sent out in late April.
School Uniform
We are very proud of how smart our children look in their Holy Trinity uniforms. Please take time this weekend to check that your child is in the correct outfit for school, as we have seen a few individual items creeping in since our return. Please also check that all uniforms are named, including coats.
In particular, please ensure that your child is wearing sensible black shoes (no trainers or boots) and that they are wearing smart dark grey trousers/shorts or a navy dress/skirt.
