Newsletter 7th February 2025

Friday 7th February 2025

Dear Parents and Carers                ,

This week’s collective worship from Eils Osgood, one of our Chairs of Governors and the vicar at Holy Trinity Church, was helping us to look at how our attitudes make our school community a happy place. Eils explored with us how people might have thought when they heard Jesus’ words 2000 years ago, and how they are still relevant today.

I will be spending much of the weekend with friends I have not seen for some time. That chance to re-acquaint ourselves with old stories, remember events, and relive favourite moments is precious; in our busy lives, it is important to reach out to our community, whether local or wider and enjoy each other’s company. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your community.

Best wishes,

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

Owls got busy at Forest Schools

On Monday our year 4 Owl class had an exciting day of adventure at Forest School, immersing themselves in nature and hands-on activities. The children crafted ancient Saxon runes from clay, learning about history while getting creative. They challenged themselves by using ropes to climb trees, building confidence and teamwork. In the mud kitchen, they expressed their creativity through messy, imaginative play.

The day ended with a thrilling game of hide and seek, allowing everyone to explore and become familiar with the wilderness.  What a fantastic experience that combined learning, physical activity and plenty of fun!

Notices and requests

 Eco Refill shop

Our Eco Warriors will be running our Eco Refill shop today, 7th February – 3.30 to 3.45 pm. If you have never tried the products I would really endorse them, my sister won’t use anything else now!

Half-Term Poster Competition – “Superhero Journeys – Travel Green, Breathe Clean!”

This half-term, we are running a fun poster competition to encourage children to think about eco-friendly travel and air quality. Pupils are invited to design their own eco-superhero who helps people walk, cycle, scoot, “park and stride”, or use public transport instead of cars.

We would love your child to take part and get creative! Posters should be bright and engaging, featuring a superhero name, special powers, and a message about clean air.

Deadline: 24.02.2025 to the office or jwalder@htprimary.com
Prizes for the best designs!

Let’s encourage our creative children to be clean air champions!

Parent Workshops – apologies!

Thank you so much to the parents who have completed the google form, I am really sorry for the restrictions on it, how frustrating! I thought I had reasonable IT skills but clearly still have a bit to learn! I’ve taken off the restrictions so that everyone can access it immediately – please could I ask you to spend 1 minute completing it if you would find any of the following support sessions helpful:

Supporting and managing:

  • Anxiety
  • Screen time and mental health
  • Emotional regulation and children’s behavior
  • Low mood
  • Parental mental health

The sessions could be run at drop off with a coffee or virtually, depending on what is most supportive. If you could take 1 minute to complete the google form (only 3 tick box questions) we will organise the sessions. Alternatively, please email me at lashby@htprimary.com or catch me on the gate.

As a community, we are dedicated to supporting every child to thrive and reach their full potential. We are working with the mental health support team, MHST, on the ‘Attached Aware’ initiative. The team is extremely experienced in supporting children and families in a variety of different ways and is offering to run some parent workshops.

Nursery applications

Applications for nursery enrolment in September 2025 close on March 1st.  If your child was born between 01/09/2021 and 31/08/2022 and you are interested in them joining our nursery, please email lprendergast@htprimary.com for an application form, or download one from our website.  We also need to take a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport (with visa clearance if required).  Offers will be sent out in late April.

School Uniform

We are very proud of how smart our children look in their Holy Trinity uniforms. Please take time this weekend to check that your child is in the correct outfit for school, as we have seen a few individual items creeping in since our return.  Please also check that all uniforms are named, including coats.

In particular, please ensure that your child is wearing sensible black shoes (no trainers or boots) and that they are wearing smart dark grey trousers/shorts or a navy dress/skirt.

Full details can be found here: https://holytrinityschool.org.uk/school-uniform/

Safeguarding

In school we have a very secure filtering system called SENSO, which helps us to monitor the usage of computers in school, ensuring that websites and content are suitable for whoever is using the machine and keeping children safe online. However, this filtering system is only available at the school, and so we are asking all parents to ensure that any devices used at home (online gaming consoles, laptops, tablets, phones etc) that their children may have access to, have suitable filtering and monitoring controls fitted. Whilst each home system will be different, we are happy to recommend the NSPCC website here, which is a link to Parental Controls for devices. If you have any further queries, do contact Mr George at school.
