Dear Parents and Carers ,
Our collective worship this week has been about humility, and how many bible stories teach us that this is a worthy value. Today we learned the folk song ‘Streets of London’ which helped us reflect on our community and love for others less fortunate. Certainly, I feel very humble to be your headteacher, working with such wonderful children and supportive parents. Having completed half a term with you and (gradually) getting to know everyone, I’d like to thank you for the morning and afternoon greetings at the gate, it really makes my day! As half term arrives, please ensure you take care of each other and stay safe. We look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday 24 February at the usual time.

It’s been a busy week for sport at HT!
Well done to Izzy and Noah who took part in the Rise Gala, winning gold and silver medals in their races. On Tuesday, 7 children represented the school in the swimming gala. We are awaiting final times but well done to Juliao for winning gold in the breaststroke race. Our Tag rugby side played a mini-tournament on Tuesday winning one, drawing one and narrowly losing two. Our girls’ football team succumbed to defeat against a very good St Mary’s side whilst our boys’ football team drew with The Vineyard. We are very proud of all our pupils who have represented the school, they have all been true ambassadors for the school.
Year 5 mathematicians visited the Royal Institute
Francis Neal and I were lucky enough to attend a national ‘Inspire Maths’ day at the Royal Institute with 15 year 5 children on Monday. We had great fun exploring origami arrays and learning about how they are used for engineering purposes such as spacecraft; we explored lots of the building and exhibits and learnt about how maths trickery can be used to create really fun maths games! In the afternoon we also created tetrahedrons made of numerous tetrahedrons! Such a fun day, we were so proud of you and your teamwork HT!
Butterflies and Dragonflies travel back in time
Year 1 time-travelled to the 1500s on Thursday and met Queen Elizabeth I. They learnt what life was like for people living in Tudor England through storytelling, drama and handling artefacts. They re-enacted the defeat of the Spanish Armada, took part in a jousting competition and impressed their teachers with some wonderful Tudor dancing.
Reception busied themselves at Forest School
Kingfisher class enjoyed their forest school session this week. Lots of fun was had getting very muddy whilst exploring the environment, playing games, using ropes and building bridges!

Staffing News
Mrs Brown has some exciting news – she will be having a baby in the summer! We wish her and her family all the best from everyone at Holy Trinity for a new addition to the family.
We would like to wish Mrs Jarrett lots of luck as she moves on after half term to a new role. Thank you so much for all your support and care for our children over the years, we are so grateful and will miss you lots!
Half-Term Poster Competition – “Superhero Journeys – Travel Green, Breathe Clean!”
This half-term, we are running a fun poster competition to encourage children to think about eco-friendly travel and air quality. Pupils are invited to design their own eco-superhero who helps people walk, cycle, scoot, “park and stride”, or use public transport instead of cars.
We would love your child to take part and get creative! Posters should be bright and engaging, featuring a superhero name, special powers, and a message about clean air.

World Book Day and BookMan Workshop
We are excited to announce that World Book Day is coming soon, with two days of fun activities to celebrate reading and creativity.
Thursday 6th March: World Book Day
Bring a Book: Children can bring their favourite book to share.
9:10 – 10:00: World Book Day Parade—dress up as a favourite character and join in the fun!
Creative Activities: Each year groups will have a fun, creative activity in their classroom.
Extras: Word Art Posters, The Masked Reader, and a Teacher Book Swap.
Golden Tickets: Hidden at lunchtime for a chance to win a book prize.
Friday 7th March: BookMan and Creatives Workshop Day
9:00 – 9:20: Assembly with a surprise guest!
David Mason (Y6): Our Year 6 children will have a special day with the author.
BookMan Workshops: An interactive experience for the rest of the school.
To make this celebration happen, we kindly ask for a £4 contribution per child, payable via Scopay. If we don’t raise enough funds, we may need to cancel. Any extra contributions are greatly appreciated.
We can’t wait to see the children’s creativity and excitement!

Nursery applications
Applications for nursery enrolment in September 2025 close on March 1st. If your child was born between 01/09/2021 and 31/08/2022 and you are interested in them joining our nursery, please email lprendergast@htprimary.com for an application form, or download one from our website. We also need to take a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport (with visa clearance if required). Offers will be sent out in late April.
School Uniform
We are very proud of how smart our children look in their Holy Trinity uniforms. Please take time this weekend to check that your child is in the correct outfit for school, as we have seen a few individual items creeping in since our return. Please also check that all uniforms are named, including coats.
In particular, please ensure that your child is wearing sensible black shoes (no trainers or boots) and that they are wearing smart dark grey trousers/shorts or a navy dress/skirt.
