Newsletter 4th April 2025

Friday 4th April 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a very busy week with our visitors from OFSTED paying their visit on Tuesday and Wednesday. We hope to have the report with us towards the end of the month. Again, can we thank everyone who has been so supportive in speaking with inspectors, filling in surveys and checking in on us – it was very much appreciated. And of course our children were all absolute stars in everything they did.

My first term at Holy Trinity has been busy – as I sit writing this on a hot April afternoon, I can barely remember the freezing cold January morning when I first met you all. Thank you for making me feel so welcome – and I look forward to another exciting term with you after our Easter break. Please stay safe and enjoy the time with your friends and family.

Best wishes,

Mr George

Butterflies and Ladybirds visited Richmond Park

Year One enjoyed a morning at the Holly Lodge Centre in Richmond Park.  They learned many interesting facts about plants which will prepare them well for our new Science topic!

Young Writers’ Competition 2025

This is a fantastic chance for children to develop their writing skills, let their creativity shine, and have the potential to see their work published.

This year’s theme is ‘The Legend’, encouraging young writers to craft their own exciting stories.

Schools that submit entries will be entered into a draw to win a free writing workshop with one of the competition’s judging authors.

Free bookmarks and stickers are available for all participating schools.

Deadline: Friday 9th May, 5pm
Submit entries to: Fran Baxter – education@wimbledonbookfest.org (Make sure you say which school you are from!)
More details & resources: www.wimbledonbookfest.org/schools/competition.

Safeguarding

Helpful hints and tips to help to keep your children safe online. Be curious about what your children are doing online, take an interest in their activities and regularly check what they are doing.

  1. Check that your internet service provider provides parental controls so you can add a layer of security for your children and filter out inappropriate content. The website links below also contain advice about this. If your child has a mobile phone check the settings on this too
  2. Talk to your child about online safety and take an interest in their activity. Especially encourage them to talk to you about anything which is worrying them online
  3. Keep online passwords safe and secure and change them often. Don’t let any of your networks be open or discoverable
  4. Agree ground rules for safe use of the internet at home. For example limit the amount of time children can spend online in any one go and restrict access at bedtime
  5. Be App aware. Many devices require downloading an app. You should check the privacy settings and permissions of any apps you download, as well as the product itself.
  6. Be device aware. Make sure your security settings include all internet enabled devices including smart TV’s and game consoles
  7. Report any concerns you have. The CEOP website below is full of really helpful information.

An updated list of 184 gaming and social media apps commonly used by young people is available here:Social-Media-Library-April-2019. The list includes the names and description of the apps.

Holy Trinity Church

We would love to welcome anyone who would like to join us at our Easter services and events. We have a number of events that are particularly suitable for primary-age children: an all-age service at 10am on Palm Sunday 13th April, a craft and activity morning from 10:30am on Good Friday 18th April, and an all-age Easter Celebration on Easter Sunday 20th April. Seasonal refreshments will be served at all of our events, and there will be an Easter egg hunt on Easter Day! We’d love for you to join us!

With best wishes and prayers for a happy Easter holiday,

Revd Eils Osgood (Vicar) and all at HTR

Community events and initiatives

Friday 9th May                                  PTA Movie Night

Saturday 10th May                          Richmond May Fair – Richmond Green

Friday 6th June                                 HT in the Park – Holy Trinity School

Saturday 5th July                              Summer Fair

Following last year’s successful programme, Richmond Council is continuing to host a series of mega skip days in each area of the borough during 2025, where local residents can get rid of bulky unwanted items for free.

The mega skip next Saturday 5 April will be placed in your community at the junction of Manor Road and Carrington Road, from 9am to 12pm (or until the skips are full – whichever comes first). Residents can bring along up to six items (including furniture or mattresses, electrical appliances, black bags, etc). Items are then recycled. Any furniture that’s brought and still in good condition is taken by local charity Richmond Furniture Scheme, who upcycle second-hand furniture and sell on for a discount.
