Friday 20th June 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week in collective worship, Ese helped us look at the story of Saul on the road to Damascus, and how he realised he needed to become a better person. We are so fortunate at Holy Trinity to have the expertise of our church leaders contributing weekly to our collective worship and exploring ideas from the Bible with the children.
Now that summer is finally here, please do remember to take proper precautions in sunny weather, with hats, sun cream and staying hydrated in the heat. I look forward to sharing the summer fun for the rest of the term with everyone in the Holy Trinity community.
Best wishes,
Mr George

Forest school days for Year 4!
Owls Class had a fantastic time at Forest School, making the most of the great weather and the beautiful outdoor setting. The children enthusiastically explored the grounds, searching for natural materials and equipment to build yarn-wrapped twigs and a creative insect hotel. Using both their brains and brawn, they worked together to design and construct an exciting zip line, showing great teamwork and problem-solving skills. One of the highlights was the mud kitchen, where the children fully embraced the mess and fun—mud pies quickly turned into full-body masterpieces, covering everyone from head to toe! The day ended with high energy and big smiles as we played a few lively games of hide and seek and finished with a spirited tug of war. It was a brilliant day of learning, laughter, and outdoor adventure—one the children won’t soon forget!
Woodpeckers had a fantastic time during their Forest School Day, enjoying the sunshine and plenty of outdoor fun. The children got creative in the mud kitchen, stirred up excitement with a homemade rope swing, and even built their own zip line! Laughter echoed through the trees as they crafted clever mud traps in an attempt to catch their unsuspecting teachers. It was a brilliant day full of teamwork, imagination, and muddy adventures!
Rainbow Class have been investigating things that float
This term Rainbow class, nursery, has been learning about travel on land, sea and in the air. We became scientists and conducted experiments to find materials that would float. The children were able to determine that wood is a good material to use for boat building! They were very productive using real tools to develop their fine motor skills to construct a boat and then beautifully decorate it to create a wonderful Father’s Day gift to share.
International Day – 27th June
We are really looking forward to celebrating our rich, diverse community through our International Day on Friday 27th June. Year 4 will start the day off with an assembly, and then we will have a variety of activities run in classes throughout the day. If you would like to come in and lead any activities, please do let your class teachers know. We would love to have lots of Mystery Readers in – please let your class teachers or class reps know if you would like to come in and share a story or some poetry with a class.
The children can come in on the day wearing cultural clothing that is specific to their nationality/religion, or alternatively, they could wear the colours of their national flag – just no football kits, please.
At 2:45 pm, the school will take part in a parade outside, a chance for us to celebrate our different community links. This will be followed by a small picnic and some dancing. Parents are welcome to join us from 2:45 pm.
Things to remember:
International theme dress can be as simple as colours (or uniform).
Bring in a small healthy snack and a drink clearly labelled for the picnic.

Safeguarding |
Sunsafe
At this time of year, staying safe in the sun is important. Here are some tips from KidsHealth to give more understanding.
Timing is Crucial: look to seek shade when possible, as the sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Try to minimise sun exposure.
Sunscreen is Essential, with an SPF of 30 or higher – this should be a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, and should be applied generously to all exposed skin, including the face, ears, neck, tops of feet, and backs of hands. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more frequently if swimming or sweating. Put sunscreen on at least 15-20 minutes before going outside.
Protective Clothing can help, with long-sleeved shirts and long pants offering good protection. Wide-brimmed hats provide shade for the face, neck, and ears. Finally, hydration is key. Encourage children to drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially in warm weather.
Smartphones
Children in years N-5 are not permitted to bring in phones or smart watches to school.
Currently, Year 6 pupils may bring in Smartphones, but leave them in the school office during the day. We have spent some time looking into this, as well as receiving comments from some parents and looking at the borough-wide initiatives on a ‘Smartphone-Free Childhood’.
We are now amending our policy. As of September, Smartphones and Smartwatches may not be brought into school by Year 6. This is to avoid the use of the internet when children may not be supervised, for example, to and from school.
However, we are aware that parents may wish their year 6 children to have a reliable communication device for the journey to and from school. If they so wish, then basic phones that allow phone calls/texts (but have no internet access) will be allowed with the same drop-off system as currently. The rule for children in other years of ‘no phones’ remains in place.
We are happy to speak to any current Year 5 parents to answer any questions and queries, or offer support and guidance in this.
Talk PANTS
Richmond Council and AfC have teamed up with the NSPCC to roll out their Talk PANTS London campaign. Talk PANTS promotes simple conversations with young children to keep children safe from harm. Developed with children, parents, carers and teachers, Talk PANTS introduces child safety messages with the help of PANTosaurus, who helps children understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell a safe adult they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.
The PANTS rule:
Always remember your body belongs to you
Talk about secrets that upset you
A series of free Talk PANTS Information Sessions is taking place during June and July. The sessions will cover:
- The aim of the Talk PANTS campaign
- Overview of Talk PANTS resources for early years aged 3-5
- Overview of Talk PANTS resources for children aged 5-11s
- Overview of Talk PANTS resources for children with additional learning needs, such as Makaton, SEND and/or autism
- Using the Talk PANTS resources with parents/carers in your setting.
