Newsletter 3rd October 2025

Friday 3rd October 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a great term we’ve had so far! I was so pleased when Sue from Holy Trinity church shared a powerful story in Collective Worship on Monday that reminds us of our school values: love, aspiration, and community. The story was from Mark 4: 35-41 in the Bible, about a group of friends caught in a sudden, huge storm while crossing a lake in a boat. They were terrified! They woke their teacher, Jesus, who was asleep, and he simply told the wind and waves, “Quiet! Be still!” and the storm stopped instantly. What can we learn from this short, amazing moment? Love is our anchor: When the friends were scared, they turned to their teacher for help. Love means we are kind, we care for one another, and we help friends when things get tricky. Aspiration is our Strength: Jesus asked his friends to have faith. Aspiration means we believe in ourselves, even when our learning is difficult. We aim high and never give up. Community is our Crew: They were all in the boat together! We are a community—a team that looks out for each other and works together to make our school safe and successful. Let’s continue to be a community full of love and high aspiration! Have a wonderful weekend,

Best wishes,

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

Badgers explore in Forest school

Our Forest School explorers have had a wonderfully muddy and creative time recently! The session was filled with imagination in the mud kitchen, where some fantastic earthy recipes were created. The children also showed brilliant teamwork and problem-solving skills, using ropes and a pulley to engineer their own zip line. To finish, they connected with nature by creating beautiful pieces of art using only the leaves, twigs, and other treasures they could find. What a fantastic way to learn and play outdoors!

A group of mathematicians take part in a competition

A group of Year 5 students showed off their maths expertise this week by attending a competition at Hampton School this week. The children worked as a team to tackle challenging questions and overcome puzzles. Well done team and thank you to Mrs Ridall for taking the team! Should you wish to take part in weekly puzzles, why not visit their website for the weekly puzzles? https://hamptonschool.org.uk/maths-wizard/

Safeguarding

Every Day Counts: The Link Between Attendance and Safety

A core part of safeguarding is ensuring children are present in school, where we can monitor their wellbeing and progress. Poor attendance or persistent lateness is a significant safeguarding concern.

Reporting Absences: If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, you must call the school office before 9.15am on the first day of absence. If we do not hear from you, we are obliged to follow up to ensure your child is safe.

Punctuality: Please ensure your child arrives on time for the start of the school day. Lateness not only disrupts learning but also means a child misses crucial early-morning checks and transition time with their class teacher.

We are here to support you. If your family is experiencing barriers to getting your child to school on time every day, please speak to us confidentially.
