Dear Parents and Carers,

In our Collective Worship this week, Eils looked at the Fruit of the Spirit – patience. We’ve been thinking about a special phrase that can help us all be the best we can be: “Patience produces character, and character produces hope.” (Romans 5:4). This means that when we take our time and don’t give up, even when things are tricky (that’s patience), we build our inner strength and who we are (character). And when we have strong character, we believe in ourselves and our future (hope)! Patience is an act of love. When we are patient with our friends, our teachers, and our family, we show them we care. When we are patient with ourselves, we show ourselves kindness and love. This helps us grow into caring people (our character). Building a strong community takes time and patience. We need to wait our turn, listen to others, and give everyone a chance to learn and play. By doing this, we build great character that makes our school a welcoming place for everyone, giving us hope for a happy school year together! Aspiration is all about aiming high and reaching for our dreams. Sometimes learning a new skill (like reading, tying our shoes, or solving a tricky maths problem) takes many tries. That’s when we need patience! If we keep trying, we build the strong character of a learner, which fills us with hope that we can achieve anything we set our minds to! So this week, let’s all try to be a little more patient with our learning and with each other. Remember, every moment of patience is helping us grow into kind, strong, and hopeful people! Our Challenge – we encourage everyone to practice patience this week. Next time you feel frustrated, try to pause, breathe, and trust that great things take time. By nurturing patience, we help Love flourish, our Community strengthen, and our Aspirations come true.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

Kingfishers enjoy the sunshine in Forest school

Kingfisher class enjoyed a gloriously sunny morning at Forest School on Monday. Children practised fine motor skills by rolling, pinching and flattening clay to make tree sprites. They went on a bug hunt and collected autumn leaves to support their current learning. They loved sitting around the pond and talking about what might live under the lily pads.

Year 2 had a day out exploring the Wetlands Centre

All the children in Year 2 had a great time going to the Wetland Centre! We had a truly exciting and busy day as we turned into expert field scientists during our visit, exploring different habitats and making habitats suitable for different animals. All of the children enjoyed spotting all the different animals, especially the otters.

Safeguarding

Our school prioritises keeping all children safe, and that includes talking about Stranger Danger. It’s an important topic, but we always approach it in a calm, informative way, focusing on what children can do to stay safe.

Who is a ‘Stranger’?

A stranger is simply someone your family doesn’t know well. We teach children not to talk to, take things from, or go anywhere with a stranger without permission. It’s important to remember that most strangers are good people, but because we can’t tell the difference just by looking, we follow safety rules with everyone we don’t know.

The “NO, GO, YELL, TELL” Rule

There is a simple, memorable set of actions for if a child ever feels unsafe or is approached by a stranger, which you may wish to go over with your child:

NO! Say “NO” firmly and loudly to anything a stranger asks you to do that makes you feel uneasy. GO! Get away from the person immediately. Run to where there are other people, like a shop, a school, or a house with lights on.

YELL! Shout as loudly as you can to draw attention. Shouting words like “This is not my dad!” or “Help!” is often more effective than just “Stranger!”

TELL! Immediately tell a trusted adult—like a parent, teacher, or police officer—what happened.

The Difference Between Strangers and Trusted Adults

It’s vital that children know who their Trusted Adults are. These are people they can always go to for help, such as: ● Parents/Guardians and close family members

  • Teachers and School Staff
  • Police Officers, Firefighters, and Ambulance Personnel
  • Shopkeepers (especially those in uniforms)

Please take a few minutes to talk with your child at home about these rules and make sure they know your family’s safety plan, like who will pick them up from school. Consistent reinforcement at home and school is the best way to keep our children safe and confident! Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s safety.
