Dear Parents and Carers,
Eils led a collective worship, thinking about our school values of Love God, Love Learning and Love One Another. She focused on what flourishing means. At first, we looked at a flower and how it might flourish before thinking about ourselves and how humans can flourish. The focus was on the Bible verse John chapter 10 verse 10, where Jesus said “I have come so that you might have life – life in all its fullness.”
Our weather this week has given us everything – freezing temperatures and icy pavements, bright sunny mornings, and copious amounts of rain! We do give the children their morning and lunch breaks outside if possible, so please encourage them to wear the right outdoor wear for school!
Have a wonderful weekend with your family; I’ve been inspired by Reception and Nursery to pay a visit to Whipsnade Zoo to see the penguins on Saturday – I’ll give them all our best wishes from the Holy Trinity family!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Mr George

Year 5&6 Boys Football – A Match Report by Apollo (Year 5)
We started off 2026 with high hopes for our fabulous Holy Trinity football team. Our first game of the year was against a local school, Vineyard. Ethan and then Flynn were the captains for the match. Vineyard started off the game and proved to be a strong challenger, as their team scored a first goal within the first few minutes.
The game was on… The pressure was on to equalise. Oli nutmegged the goalie. We now knew what to do. Within 5 minutes, Oli had put the ball in the net, securing our first goal of the year! We slowly started getting stronger in attack and got a lot more opportunities. Despite our efforts, the first half ended 1-1, leaving us hungry for more. Our coach, Mr. Callaghan, told us we needed to communicate better as a team. We were now motivated to do better. Early in the second half, Apollo crossed it in, and the defender put it just wide of the post, nearly scoring in their own goal. Ajai was dribbling up the pitch constantly, trying to weave past the defence. Oli had a big impact on the game as well; he managed to get the ball off the opposite team quite often. At last, in the final part of the game, Juliao slammed the ball into the back of the net after numerous attempts! We were finally ahead 2-1 up. As the game was nearly finishing, we had an unwanted surprise: a penalty. It sadly did not go in our favour. They equalised, and the game was over. It was devastating. Our man of the match was Oli, who proudly scored for HT. Despite the disappointing outcome, the team is determined to give their best and win the next game.
| Notices and Requests |
Office Update
The office staff are often asked for letters confirming attendance and confirmation that a child is on the school roll. This is typically for children of parents who require information for the Home Office or foreign embassies. We will make an administration charge of £20 for this service in future and request a minimum of 5 days’ notice. The charge will be added to your Scopay account.
Share and Care Collective

All around the country, there are people who sometimes need a little bit of extra help
buying food and toiletries for their family. Share & Care Collective is a small local charity that helps local families with weekly supplies of food and toiletries during term time. They collect donations from across the community and work in partnership with local primary schools to distribute our
support bags. We have agreed to host a collection box for this charity. If you would like to donate, please take your items to Mrs Prendergast and Mrs Bell in the office. Thank you to those who are already donating.
Eco Team Cake Sale
The Eco Team would like to hold a cake sale on Friday, 23rd January 2026, outside Heron Class at 3.30 pm. This is to raise some funds to buy some:
– bird feeders
– litter pickers
– plants for the classrooms
We would welcome donations of cakes to be brought in on the day or the day before. These could be handed in to your child’s class; the Eco reps will collect the cakes from there.
The Eco Refill Team will also be opening their shop alongside the cake stall. Please come along, bring your bottles/ containers and buy your refills of soaps and detergents. It is both convenient for you and kind to the planet!
Spark! Book Awards 2026
We are excited to share that we are taking part in the Spark! School Book Awards. This year, to keep our lesson time focused on the core curriculum, we are inviting families to explore the Spark! Book Awards shortlist at home rather than during school hours. This is a brilliant opportunity for children to discover new authors and share their favourite finds with us.
What you can do:
- Check out the amazing list of books here: https://www.sparkbookawards.co.uk/
- Enjoy reading these titles together or independently at home.
- Encourage your child to bring their favourite Spark! book into class to show their teacher or share a recommendation with their friends.
We can’t wait to hear which books “spark” your child’s imagination!
| Safeguarding |
Today, Years 3,4,5 and 6 had an assembly led by Network Rail. This explored the safety aspects of rail lines, and especially level crossings, as our school is so close to the one on Manor Rd. WE hope that this has informed pupils and staff on the best ways to act around these areas. The Network Rail safety site can be found here. Mr George, Miss Brunt & Mrs Allard can be contacted at the school using their emails (which are on the school website), or you can use our new safeguarding email, which is: safeguarding@htprimary.com . We welcome Mrs Bell to our Safeguarding Team, who can also be contacted using her own email or the Safeguarding link above. Our Safeguarding Governors are Francis Neal and Helen Taylor, and they can be contacted via email using the links on the school website, linked here.
