Newsletter 30th January 2026

Return to newsletters

Dear Parents and Carers,

Matt joined us for Collective Worship this week, where we looked a little more at our school value of community. He compared our school community to a jigsaw where each piece is slightly different but very important. We studied the verse, “Welcome one another as Christ welcomed you.” (Romans 15:7). We ended with a song about Kindness and how important it is to treat all our community with kindness, no matter that we aren’t all the same.

As the weather starts to improve, I start to enjoy lighter mornings and evenings, which lets us know that spring is – somewhere – around the corner! Have a wonderful weekend with your families.

Best wishes,

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

History Day

Last Friday, Holy Trinity hosted its annual British History Day, a vibrant event designed to immerse children in our nation’s past through a chronological journey. Mr. Auton launched the day with an engaging assembly that highlighted the importance of chronology. Students were challenged to identify historical eras through unique soundscapes and to link key facts to the four ‘golden thread’ themes that underpin our history curriculum at Holy Trinity: Monarchy, Empires/Dynasties/Migration, Local Area, and Key People. Throughout the day, each year group explored a specific era: Year 1 focused on the Battle of Hastings and the Normans, Year 2 delved into Medieval Times, Year 3 studied the Tudors, Year 4 the Stuarts, Year 5 the Victorians, and Year 6 concluded the timeline with World War II. Our Reception children had a day focusing on Kings and Queens.

The school was filled with “fabulous” costumes as many children dressed for their respective periods, participating in hands-on workshops that ranged from building castles and studying famous monarchs to learning about the English Civil War. A particular highlight for Year 6 was their evocative visit to the St. Leonard’s air raid shelter, where they gained a deeper understanding of the Blitz. By matching artifacts to their origins and engaging in era-specific activities, the children enjoyed a truly memorable and educational experience.

Year 5 Trip to Holly Lodge

Last week, Year 5 took part in an engaging and educational visit to the Holly

Lodge Centre in Richmond Park. The children were fully immersed in Victorian life,

travelling back in time to 1869 to experience a typical Victorian school day. They

thoroughly enjoyed wearing the period costumes and embracing the rules and

customs of the era, gaining a real insight into the expectations of a strict Victorian

classroom.

Year 3&4 Girls Football

8 girls from Year 3 and 4 represented the school in their first ever football

competition. The girls were very excited and loved representing the school. They

competed in 5 matches and it was a great experience to start their future careers

as HT footballers! Well done girls!

Notices and Requests

Share and Care Collective

All around the country, there are people who sometimes need a little bit of extra help buying food and toiletries for their family. Share & Care Collective is a small local charity that helps local families with weekly supplies of food and toiletries during term time. They collect donations from across the community and work in partnership with local primary schools to distribute our support bags. We have agreed to host a collection box for this charity. If you would like to donate, please take your

items to Mrs Prendergast and Mrs Bell in the office. Thank you to those who are already donating.

Nursery applications

If your child was born between 01/09/2022 and 31/08/2023 and you are interested in them joining our wonderful nursery next September, please email lprendergast@htprimary.com for an application form, or download one from our website. We have a nursery tour at 9.15am on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 26th February; please contact the office if you would like to book a space on either of these dates. Please also spread the word amongst your friends and family who may be interested. You can find more information on our website: https://holytrinityschool.org.uk/nursery/

Prayer Breakfast

On 4th February, there will be a prayer breakfast in Woodpecker Class between 8:00-8:30am. Coffee and pastries will be provided as usual. It’s aimed at the grown-up members of our community – parents, staff and governors all welcome!

Drop off and Pick up

A reminder to children and families regarding safety at pick-up and drop-off. Please do not allow your children to play chase or ‘tag’ games around the main gates unsupervised. Our gates are quite narrow, and with the pedestrian and bike traffic, chase and tag games in these areas can be hazardous. Staff on duty are often speaking with parents and cannot always look in every direction, so we ask that you help your children move safely to and from school each day. Thank you!

Uniform

It is time for our regular reminder about the school uniform. Our uniform details can be found here. At this time of year we appreciate that children might need to come to school in other footwear to cope with the rain or cold, but we would of course expect them to change into their normal school shoes once in school. We have noticed a few ’extra’ items creeping into some pupils’ dress, and hopefully this reminder will enable you to ensure that your children follow our uniform rules. On some occasions, the office team may reach out to check with you regarding certain items of clothing a child may be in, just in case you were not aware! As ever, with any concerns of problems, do let us know and we will be happy to help.

Safeguarding

Mr George, Miss Brunt, Mrs Allard and Mrs Bell can be contacted at the school using their emails (which are on the school website), or you can use our new safeguarding email, which is: safeguarding@htprimary.com . Our Safeguarding Governors are Francis Neal and Helen Taylor, and they can be contacted via email using the links on the school website, linked here.
