John 10:10
Dear Parents and Carers,
How quickly the weeks are flying by! Our HT Newsletter will be coming out to you fortnightly this year. We want to make sure that we are communicating with you as much as possible without bombarding you with too much information. The newsletter will keep you up to date with what has been going on at school, what’s ahead and any other useful information and messages.
Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to come along to the Meet the Teacher events in the first two weeks. Hopefully these were useful sessions for you to find out more about the new academic year.
It has been lovely getting to know the school community. There is a wonderful calm feeling around the school during the day. The children are focussed and very eager to learn which resonates with the school’s vision of ‘Love Learning, Love one another, Love God.’ I’m very much looking forward to the Forest School Sessions which are starting from next week.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes,
Ms Maryanne Boon

School Uniform
Our school uniform creates a sense of belonging. Our expectation is that the children will wear their school uniform with pride and will be dressed in the correct items. Please refer to our school website for what the children should be wearing and what is not appropriate.
Changes to your contact details
It is important that you keep us updated on any changes to your contact details and address. Please contact the school office if you have a new mobile phone number, email address or have moved recently.
Attendance
Schools aim for their overall attendance target to be around 96 – 97% each year. Our Attendance is monitored by the Local Authority and the Department for Education. Shortly we will receive the DfE overall target for our school for this academic year. Attending school for 190 days is statutory. Children do fall ill and, as a result, may need time off school to recover. Please see the information regarding keeping your children healthy further in the newsletter. Please note that term-time holidays and non-school activity absences will not be authorised, in line with the statutory expectations for schools from the DfE. In line with our school values and the expectations in our Attendance Policy, we ask that parents and carers do inform us of any absences by filling out the relevant paperwork.
Free school eligibility for the 2026 -2027 school year
From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit will be entitled to receive a free meal. Although all primary school age children in London receive free school meals, please still apply if you think your child might be eligible.
This is a legal requirement through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026.
Going forward, there will be 2 categories of benefits-based free school meals:
- Targeted FSM, which continues to be based on the existing threshold, covering pupils who are in households in receipt of Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less
- Expanded FSM, a new category covering pupils who do not qualify for targeted FSM, but who are in households receiving Universal Credit
In order that this support reaches as many of our parents as possible we would be grateful if you apply using this LINK
It only takes a couple of minutes, and you will receive a decision from the system by return. An annual re-check will be made to confirm eligibility for the following academic year.

Tennis Champs
Tennis Champs is offering discounted tennis lessons for children
aged 7–13 from families experiencing financial hardship.
Sessions cost just £2 per week and run for 10 weeks, every
Thursday from 4:00–5:00pm, delivered by Tennis 4 Barnes. To
qualify, families must receive Universal Credit, Jobseeker’s
Allowance or Child Tax Credit, or be eligible for Free School
Meals.

Richmond Music Trust Guitar Lessons
Richmond Music Trust has spaces for guitar lessons which will take place in
school on Fridays. It is for Year 3 and upwards. Please see the flyer below for

Reporting an Absence
On the first day of absence (and each subsequent day of absence) the parent/guardian/carer should inform the school by Parentmail, email (cbell@htprimary.com) or telephone the office on 020 8940 2730 by 9.15am. Proof of medical appointments must be obtained by parents and given/shown to the School Office. If an absence is not reported, this is a Safeguarding concern for the school.
We are a Nut Free and Sesame Free School
It is very important that we stress to all parents that Holy Trinity CE is a NUT FREE
and SESAME SEED FREE school. This means that children must not come to school
with any product in their packed lunches that contain, or may contain, nuts or
sesame seeds. Please check the product details on all packaging and avoid sending
in any food items that could contain traces of these or which are produced in
factories where nuts and sesame seeds are present.

Scooters and Bikes/Beginning and End of Day
We expect that children arriving and leaving school on scooters and bicycles dismount at the entrance gates and walk these through the school grounds to where they can park them.
Please do not let your children play on any of the playground equipment before and after
school and ensure that you are supervising them at all times. We ask that Year 6 pupils who have permission to walk home alone, leave the grounds promptly and sensibly.

Keeping your children healthy this school year – a guide for parents and carers
As children are now back at school and we move closer to winter, now is a good time to think about some of the common illnesses that can affect children’s time in school during the colder months.
For more information please see this UKHSA guide to keeping kids healthy this school year for parents and carers.
Richmond Council Megaskip day.
Following last year’s successful programme, Richmond Council is continuing to host a series of Mega Skip days in each area of the borough during 2026, where local residents can get rid of up to six bulky unwanted items for free. There will be a mega skip on Saturday 3 October at Carrington Road from 9 to 11am (or until the skips are full – whichever comes first).
Residents can bring along up to six items (including furniture or mattresses, electrical appliances, black bags, etc). Items are then recycled and any furniture that’s brought and still in good condition is taken by local charity Richmond Furniture Scheme, who upcycle second-hand furniture and sell it on for a discount.
Residents can also refer to our website for further information about what can and can’t be brought to the skip.
Holy Trinity Church Light Party – Saturday 31st October
