Dear Parents and Carers 29/06/2023
Sports Day
I look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it to Sports day tomorrow to cheer on the children. Early Years and Key Stage 1 will be in the morning starting at 9.15 and Key Stage 2 in the afternoon starting at 1.30. The PTA will be serving refreshments. Children should wear their school uniform PE kit to school.
Reports and staff moving on
Your child will come home with their annual report on Thursday 6th July – do check their bag! Ahead of this, I wanted you to know that we have a number of staff leaving this year. Mrs Reynolds will be retiring, Mike Brown is going to work in a secondary SEND setting nearer home, Chanelle O’ Brien and Brendan Honnery will continue their teaching careers overseas and Miss Lockey and Mrs Peet have both got promotions in other schools. In addition, Mr Jackson, one of our Assistant Teachers, is returning to his roots in the north.
The teachers taking their places and the class that your child will be moving into will be included in the report letter that you receive next week. The children will all be meeting their new teachers before the end of term – though some have done so already.
Children moving on
Other than our year 6 children, if there are any parents with children in Reception to Year 5 who are leaving the school at the end of term, please confirm this with Mrs Prendergast (lprendergast@htprimary.com) in the office as soon as possible alongside the name of the school your child will be joining and your new address if applicable. Richmond Admissions are asking for our projected numbers in each year group so that they are in a position to start making offers to other children. Many thanks.
Leavers Service
Last Friday, year 6 went to Southwark Cathedral to attend a Leavers Service alongside a number of other Diocesan Church Schools. They also had a lovely time spotting London landmarks and finding shady places to have their lunch.
Thank-you tea
We are holding a thank you tea for all parents who volunteer their time and talents to support our school. If an invitation hasn’t already made its way into your inbox, please accept this as an invitation. We would be grateful if you could RSVP to the school office asap. We look forward to seeing as many as possible of you there.
Polite Reminder from a local resident regarding parking
Following the Summer Fair, I received the following from one of our neighbours:
‘Yesterday, 24 June, there was an all-day event at your school. Obviously, when these events happen some parents choose to drive and park in Carrington Road or Kings Farm Avenue. Sadly, they often park very unsympathetically for the residents. Although I have a driveway, I came home yesterday to find two cars parked either side of my drive but just over the edge enough to block my entrance. There were cars parked on the other side of the road too, which further reduced space for me to park on my drive. Both cars had space to edge forward or back to give me room to manoeuvre into my drive.
This is not the first time this has happened during an event at your school. Parents have parked directly across my drive, without even thinking about knocking on my door to check if that is okay. On one occasion I had to come down to the event and ask for an announcement to be made in order to find the car owner.
I understand that the school will hold events throughout the year and I fully support that. All I ask is that you please remind parents to park sympathetically to the residents, especially during weekend events.’
Could we please be mindful of our local community when attending school events please.
Strikes
The National Education Union (NEU) have proposed further strike days next week on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July.
Teachers are not compelled to inform their Headteacher of their plans to strike however I am very grateful to those teachers at Holy Trinity who do intend to strike for doing so. As last time, they will have already informed parents of their class to ensure that you have had time to make childcare arrangements.
I appreciate that this will cause disruption to some of our families but hope you will respect this situation in order to try to improve the education system and school funding going forward.
Scopay
A number of accounts are in credit on Scopay for school meals. Please will all parents/carers of leavers check their accounts. We are unable to refund below £10 which is the minimum Scopay payment but if you wish for money to be transferred to a sibling’s account or receive a reimbursement over £10 please email our Finance Officer April Owens on aowens@htprimary.com with bank details including full name, sort code and account number.
We will hold the money for non-leavers on your account and will transfer meals credit to wraparound care/trips etc next term.
Please contact April Owens if you have any further queries.
Please make sure that any outstanding meal payments for this term are made by Monday 10th July.
