Newsletter 14th June 2024

Friday 14th June 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week at school our Year 4 children completed their multiplication tests – well done Woodpeckers and Owls! Our Year 1 children and some of our year 2 children also completed their phonics screening, well done to Ladybirds, Butterflies and some of the Dragonflies and Bumblebees too! We are so proud of your mature and positive attitudes towards your learning. We have had workshops from the NSPCC for our year 5 & 6 children (Year 2’s date has been rearranged) and we braved the good British weather to have our class photos taken outside in the fresh, if blustery, air!

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all to HT’s Summer Fair that is running from 11.30am-3pm tomorrow. One of my favourite events in the calendar.

Trips, visits and events

Kingfisher class welcomed year 5 ‘reading buddies’ into Reception on Thursday.

The children all had a lovely time and enjoyed sharing books with one another. The year 5 children were so impressed with the reading skills of the reception children! We look forward to our next visit.

Speak Out Stay Safe – NSPCC workshops for years 5 & 6

We were very happy to have been able to organise workshops with the NSPCC for our Year 5 & 6 children around the subject of Speaking out and staying safe. The workshops are all run by CRB checked volunteers so we were extremely grateful for their time. The children said that they found the sessions interesting, informing and confidence building.

Message from Mrs Evans

We had a wonderful worship together on Wednesday morning which focused on Matthew 5v16: “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” We began with the candle and reflected on it representing Jesus as the light of the world. We talked about the light that he shines on the world and what we can learn from his examples. We then considered the ‘light’ that we shine on others and what we want this light to be. I asked the children to consider that if their ‘light’ was described in 3 words, what would they want these words to be? I then asked them to consider the actions that would demonstrate these.

It was so lovely to hear our Reception children engaging with this so well, giving answers such as: ‘kind’ – “I will help others”; ‘loving’ – “I will make special cards for people”; ‘happy’ – “I will smile through all my lessons”. We closed in prayer and sang ‘My Lighthouse’ together. It was such a positive time of reflection and prepared us for our day of learning ahead.

I spent a fabulous couple of hours in the nursery class on Thursday and really enjoyed finding out more about their routines and their learning. It is exciting to think that soon some of them will be joining us in the main school building!

I am really looking forward to joining you for the summer fair on Saturday – I am willing the weather to be kind to us! Thank you in advance to all of the parents/carers and staff that have given their time to support planning, organising and helping on the day! If you are unable to join us – have a lovely weekend.

Notices and requests

Parent/Carer Survey

We have put together our parent/carer survey which can be completed by following the link here: Survey 2024. We would really like to hear from as many families as possible. You will notice at the end that we have 2 new questions: “What is working well?” and “What could the school do to support you or your child further?”. These questions are optional to answer but would really help us in considering the strengths of Holy trinity and areas that we could focus on for improvement in the next school year.

The survey will be open until Friday 20th June – please take a few minutes to give us your views as this will help us with planning for next year. We will be offering a treat to the class in school who has the most returns!

Continuing to clock up those miles for HT – a pit stop for a coffee is always welcomed! Only 2 more weeks of training to go until the big ride. Thank you to all those who have already donated.

Miss Brunt, Mr Thomson and some members of the HT community are continuing their training towards their goal of cycling from Richmond to Paris over 2 days at the end of this month. They are raising money for our wonderful school and your children. Thank you so very much to anyone who has sponsored them and the Skylarks charity so far!

50% of the funds raised go directly to HT school and 50% to Skylarks, an independent Richmond upon Thames-based charity that provides activities and therapies for children with disabilities and additional needs.
