Friday 27th June 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a mixed week we have had with the weather, from misty starts where it is (almost) cold, to very warm afternoons. We had a wonderful Collective Worship on Monday, where Eils explored the journeys of Paul with us, showing us his journeys and life story as told in the Bible.
Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our PTA Summer Fair by bringing in their donations – seeing the very generous amount of chocolate on Thursday made me feel quite hungry! I hope you will all be joining us for this great event on Saturday 5th July – I look forward to seeing you then. Please have a happy and safe weekend.
Best wishes,
Mr George

Trips, visits and events |
Reception have fun at Forest school!
No need for wellies this week as Kingfishers enjoyed a sunny morning at forest school. Lots of fun games, teamwork and collaboration with the ropes, the children were thrilled to beat the teachers at tug the rope! It was very exciting to discover newts when pond dipping, which linked in perfectly to our topic, Amazing Animals.
Year 1 Trip to Ruislip Lido
Year 1 had a fantastic day out at Ruislip Lido this week! The children enjoyed a scenic ride on the mini train and had lots of fun playing in the sand. The trip was linked to their history topic on seaside holidays of the past, giving them a chance to experience some traditional seaside activities first-hand. A great day was had by all!
Woodpeckers and Owls are treated to a morning of music at the Royal Festival Hall
Year 4 had an unforgettable day at the Royal Festival Hall, where they experienced the magic of live music with the Philharmonic Orchestra performing Petrushka by Stravinsky. It wasn’t just a concert—it was an interactive musical adventure! The children sang along with the orchestra, learning lyrics and exciting dance moves as the show went on.
The story of Petrushka came alive through music that took us on a journey through a bustling fairground, filled with emotions—joy, mischief, surprise, and even sadness. The children explored how music can express feelings and tell stories without words. They also got to know the three distinct characters, Petrushka the puppet, the suspicious pirate, and the graceful ballerina, making the whole experience both educational and unforgettable.
What a spectacular day!
International Day – 27th June
We have had a wonderful day celebrating our rich and diverse community. Woodpeckers and Owls treated us to a fabulous assembly this morning, which really started the day off with a bang! This afternoon, our community came together to showcase where we all come from in a parade and to celebrate together at one of our classic HT picnics. We all feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful, warm and multicultural family.

2025 Summer Reading Challenge – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors.
The Summer Reading Challenge is the UK’s biggest children’s reading initiative for 4 –11-year-olds and is produced by The Reading Agency and delivered by public libraries. We hope that this year’s theme will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.
From Saturday 5 July 2025, the children can sign up for the challenge at their local Richmond upon Thames library and receive a Story Garden pack. To take part, they need to be a member of the library and have their own library card. For each of six library books they read, they can collect a sticker for their pack. Children can update their progress through the challenge at any library in the borough. Everyone who reads six library books is rewarded in the library with a medal anda certificate.
Story Garden ends in the borough on Saturday 6 September 2025. More information is available here https://www.richmond.gov.uk/summer_reading_challenge

Sports Day Wednesday 2 July 2025
For those children who usually have a hot meal at lunchtime, the school caterers will be providing sandwich lunches on Sports Day so that the children can enjoy these outside as part of the day. There is no change to the usual system for this.
