Friday 7th March 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week, we had an amazing collective worship session with Eils Osgood, who is the vicar at Holy Trinity Church and one of our co-Chairs of Governors. Eils spoke with us about fairness (and unfairness!) and ways that we might forgive each other and be forgiven. We all thought about the times when we could have been more forgiving, and reflected on this in our worship. We would like to wish Eils all the very best for her service of Institution and Induction as the Interim Incumbent (vicar) at Holy Trinity Church this Sunday evening – our prayers as a school will be with her.
As the weather continues to improve (albeit with very cold starts), it’s another time to start getting outside where we can to enjoy nature. I will be spending part of the weekend restoring a memorial site in Naseby, Northamptonshire, as part of a history society that I am involved with – I’m hoping for lots of sun while we trim back the undergrowth, repair the fencing and clean the memorial stone down. I then have the tricky task of repainting the crest on the stone – lots of patience required! I hope you can also get outside and enjoy the wonderful countryside in our community this weekend.
Best wishes,
Mr George
Trips, visits and events |
Ladybirds enjoy the sunshine at Forest School
The Ladybirds had lots of fun at Forest School on Monday. We linked our learning to our Geography and Art topics focusing on the Union Jack flag. We painted using berries to produce a class flag! We also played in the mud kitchen, built dens from ropes and plastic and hunted for bugs.
Year 2 had a fabulous time at Brooklands!
Year 2 recently visited the fascinating Brooklands Museum in Weybridge as part of their History topic on Travel and Transport. The children had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of transport, from historic aircraft to classic cars and steam engines. They were amazed by the history of aviation and motor racing, which helped bring their learning to life.
Throughout the trip, Year 2 demonstrated our school’s core values of respect, curiosity, and teamwork. They asked thoughtful questions and worked together to learn about the incredible achievements in transport history. Their behaviour was exemplary, making them fantastic ambassadors for our school.

Thursday 27th March – Year 2 scooter training
On Thursday 27th March the Year 2 children will take part in a free National scooter training scheme to help them understand the importance of road safety. The training takes place in the school playground. If your child has a scooter and/or helmet please make sure they bring it into school on this day. If they don’t have a scooter they can borrow one from a friend as the training takes place in small groups. If you are happy for your child to lend their scooter to a friend who does not have one, please let a member of staff know.
International Food Festival 25th March
We are holding our International Food Festival again during the morning of 25th March! Last year’s festival was such an incredible success and a highlight of the Spring term; this is a chance to really celebrate our cultural richness and share the different cuisines linked to our heritages with our community.
Please can your child bring in a plate of bite-sized nibbles to share with our community; it may be tasters of a family favourite (sweet or savoury), from England or some traditional food linked to your culture or heritage. The children just loved experiencing different foods from around the world and enjoying dishes that were community favourites. Please label your plate of food with the ingredients, (and vegetarian/vegan/gluten/dairy) for our children with allergies and intolerances. Please keep an eye out for sign-up sheets through your class reps. We are looking for a few volunteers to support our HT Friends throughout the morning, please email me or let your parent rep know if you would like to come in and join us.
Any leftovers we will be sharing with you all outside the main gates at pick up time!

Watching and Browsing Online – Internet Matters
According to Ofcom, 90% of children are watching online videos and browsing the internet regularly. Children may love to stream videos and look up information, it’s a fun way to learn and relax, but they must be guided. The e-space is filled with inappropriate content and dangerous material. Internet Matters has published a guide dedicated to supporting adults in setting digital boundaries for children, so that they can make smart choices and build healthy online habits. In the Internet Matters guide you’ll find practical tips on managing content access, the use of safety controls, advice on setting boundaries and ways to educate children on how to stay secure online.
