Dear Parents and Carers                                                                                                                05/10/2023

I have written many letters home to parents over the years but this is a first for me.  I am aware that Dan Wells, our vicar and vice-chair of Governors informed you on Tuesday that I will be retiring at the end of the Spring Term 2024. Whilst it feels like the right time for me and my family, I will be very sad to say goodbye to the wonderful school and community of Holy Trinity.

I joined Holy Trinity in 2019 and worked with everyone to discern our vision and values which are now well embedded and lived out in the school. The years that followed brought the challenge of doing school differently because of COVID and lockdowns; I am so proud of how the amazing staff team and children coped through such difficult times. The staff make it a joy to come into school each day as they all work so hard to give the best they can to the children. I have had the pleasure of working with a strong and dedicated leadership team who tirelessly strive to make Holy Trinity the wonderful school that it is. We are also blessed with the most wonderful children who never cease to bring a smile to my face – thank you parents for entrusting them to us.

Although sad to leave Holy Trinity, I am excited about the future and my next chapter. I will of course be here until the end of March and will continue to work hard until the very end. I know the governors are already busy engaging with the recruitment process to find my replacement.

Maths Wizard Champion Competition at Hampton school

Teams of Year Five pupils from 20 primary schools put their mathematical knowledge to the test, tackling a range of tricky numerical puzzles in a bid to win the Maths Wizard trophy. The children took part in five rounds of problems culminating in a group challenge, in which the pupils had to work together to solve some fiendishly difficult maths problems. Congratulations to Emily, Leila, Eric and Lucas who demonstrated brilliant number crunching skills and team work and came second.

Times Tables Rockstars and Numbots

What an exciting launch, this week has been full of fierce competition between year groups and peers. It has been a pleasure to be part of! Please do keep encouraging your children to really get practising their maths whilst having fun as well. As a quick note, TTRS and Numbots will be replacing Mathletics. The reason for this is TTRS (KS2) and Numbots (KS1) are much more closely linked to both the maths curriculum and the national assessment processes.

Parent Prayer meeting

Our parent prayer meeting will be meeting again on Monday 9th October between 9-10am in the Kingfisher Hut. All are welcome and we’d love you to join us for a tea/coffee, cake and a time of prayer. We will be praying for our school community and also for one another. It’s a very relaxed and friendly meeting, so please do feel free to stay for as long as you can. If you aren’t able to join us but would like us to pray for you, please send your requests to Louise McFerran at lou_mcferran@yahoo.co.uk

Snack reminder

If your child is in Nursery, Reception or Key Stage 1, please do not send snacks in for break time as fruit is available for them. If your child is in Key Stage 2 and wants to bring a snack in, please just send them in with a piece of fruit. We are currently finding a wide range of snacks coming into school, many of which are not healthy and are taking much of break time to consume minimising the opportunity for exercise. I would be grateful if you could support us with this to promote a healthy diet, avoid significant amounts of plastic waste and maximise the opportunity to play.

Drop off and Pick up

Children are not allowed to bring balls into the playground, play football or use the play equipment before or after school for safety and insurance reasons. Please support us by preventing your children from doing so.

Therapeutic Parenting Conversations

An opportunity to reflect, talk and gain support and ideas when your child is experiencing difficulties.

Fleur Milsom ~ Child psychotherapist.

When children are struggling at home or at school, parents and caregivers can sometimes feel frustrated, isolated and defeated. I am a qualified child psychotherapist who can think non-judgmentally with you about what your child’s behaviour might be communicating. From there we can explore different perspectives and discuss practical strategies for making things easier for you and for your child.  In my work I draw on psychological theories and simple, accessible brain science. I believe that as a parent you know your child best of all and are therefore best placed to support them. My role then, is to offer you a helpful space to think and gain ideas so that you may feel better equipped and more empowered.

Fleur is also running our Wellbeing Warrior session this year.
