Dear Parents and Carers ,
This week I had the greatest pleasure in attending the national Primary Science Teaching Awards. Mrs Lambert was one of five teachers nationally to receive an award for her outstanding primary science teaching and the impact she has had both within the school and outreach across London. We are so proud and grateful for her dedication and hard work to give our children the best possible experiences and education.
As always, she was extremely humble in receiving this but we are not shy about celebrating her incredible achievement – please do congratulate her if you spot her on the gate on Monday!

Introducing the JLT
We are delighted to introduce our Junior Leadership Team for this year. All children from Year 3 – 6 were invited to apply and provide answers to the following questions:
- Why do you want to join?
- What skills and qualities will you bring?
- What makes our school a special place?
- Give examples of when you have shown our school values of Love, Aspiration and Community.
Individual class teachers then had to make the difficult decision of selecting two JLT members for their class. Congratulations to Rita and Jason (Swans), Elsie and Ayen (Herons), Isabel and Keyaan (Woodpeckers), Abigail and Harry (Owls), Fran and Isaac (Foxes), Matias and Isabella (Badgers), Eric and Freya (Roe), Loch and Leela (Fallow).
We were thrilled by the large number of applications and the standard was incredibly high. The new JLT representatives will be working with Mr Auton throughout the year to provide a voice for all pupils, running events and helping the school to achieve its School Development Plan targets. One of the main focuses for the JLT this year will be the quality of provision in our outside areas during break and lunchtimes.
Head Pupil
The JLT will have a more prominent role around our school than previous years and as part of that enhanced role, we offered the Year 5 and 6 representatives the chance to apply for Head Pupil. Seven children put their names forward and delivered a speech to Mr Auton and Mrs Evans. The ideas, measured responses to questions and consideration given to this task were exceptional. We were immensely proud of the children and found it very difficult to select just one pupil so we would like to say a huge congratulations to our new co-Head Pupils: Freya and Fran! Their love for our school and desire to make it even better were truly inspiring. Due to the leadership qualities displayed by the other candidates (Loch, Isaac, Isabella, Leela and Matias) we have decided to split them into two teams to each organise our JLT Christmas and Summer Fair stalls as well as leading a number of school worships with Mrs Evans.
Have a read of some of the quotes from our Head Pupil interviews. What a wise bunch we have representing the pupils of Holy Trinity School!
“I have always wanted to have something that I can say ‘I made that happen’ or ‘I was part of that’, which is really why I signed up for JLT in the first place.”
“A role model is someone who sets a good example to other people in their community and sometimes outside of it. By doing this you become an ambassador for our school.”
“The role of Head Pupil is important because it means teachers can see through the eyes of pupils.”
“I think I would be the ideal student for the Head Pupil – it is very important to me that people have a voice. I want to make a difference.”
“It is important for someone with a student’s perspective to be involved with decisions and any changes.”

Trips, visits and events |
Bumblebees enjoy Forest School
Year 2 had a wonderful time taking part in various forest school activities. Some of these included creating their own zip lines and swings, making mud kitchen delicacies, creating God’s eyes, reading nature books and exploring the pond area. It was wonderful to see how active, creative and imaginative the children were during the sessions and how they encompassed so many of our school values.
Year 5’s visit to space & Antarctica
This week year 5 visited the Science Museum to support their work in science and geography. They participated in two fun learning activities; the first was a space activity titled ‘Mission to Space’ where the children learnt about the different planets, the sun and space rockets.
The second activity was a 3D IMAX experience all about Antarctica which is our current focus in geography. The wildlife film touched on subjects such as climate change and sustainability and was very thought provoking. Alongside this the 3D experience really helped to bring Antarctica alive for the children.
Message from Mrs Evans |
What a busy week we have had! It was wonderful to interview the candidates for Head Pupil earlier in the week – I was so impressed by the way that they had each prepared and the confidence that each pupil showed as they presented to me and Mr Auton. I am really looking forward to working closely with them all and look forward to seeing the impact that they all have this year as part of the JLT!
This morning we joined together for a worship focused on the importance of positive interactions. We began with 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Encourage one another and build eachother up.” I shared with the children that some companies are requiring their employees to come back into the office every day that they work as they believe that they will benefit from the human interactions. We reflected on this and began by thinking about things that we can do alone and things that can only be done with others. We then thought about the importance of good interactions in building strong relationships and thought about how we can build these strong relationships in school. I shared with the children that whilst we may not always remember everything that is said to us we will remember how it made us feel… I closed worship by playing the children ‘The Blessing UK’ which was created during lockdown when people could not see one another in person; those involved found a way in which they could still meaningfully interact with one another. Do take a few minutes to watch it this weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUtll3mNj5U
Notices and requests |
Class Whats App Groups
Our Whats App groups are a fantastic way to quickly share information to support our community further, however, we have had some reports of information being shared via these which has made some of our families feel uncomfortable. We are asking that if you have concerns about behaviour incidents that have taken place at school that you bring these to us rather than contacting other parents/carers directly. Thank you for your support with this.
Separated Parents Policy
We would like to draw your attention to our new ‘Separated Parents Policy’ which can be found on our website: https://holytrinityschool.org.uk/statutory-information/. Please contact Mrs Evans if you would like to discuss any of the information contained within it further.
