Newsletter 23rd May 2025

Friday 23rd May 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

We had a wonderful collective worship on Monday from Matt Osgood, which again incorporated the theme of ‘the journey’. Matt also looked at early flight with the Wright Brothers and Amelia Earhart, thinking about encouraging each other and building each other up in our value of aspiration.

We were very pleased to be able to publish our OFSTED report, from the inspection in April. The inspectors were able to pick out the highlights of our school, and you can find out more from our website here.

With the half-term holiday already upon us, it falls to me to wish you all a lovely week off, and remind you that we come back to school on Tuesday 3 June. I hope you, your family and your community all have a fantastic time!

Best wishes,

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

Herons turn to have a  great time at Forest School

Heron Class enjoyed a morning out at Forest School, as they connected with nature and had fun in the hands-on environment.  They built a den, discovered insects and newts, played games, all while working together and building confidence.

Reception visit Orleans House gallery

Kingfisher class enjoyed a trip out to Orleans Gallery. The children explored the grounds and gallery, and learnt how to use a range of artists tools and materials to create their very own masterpieces. A sensory experience that inspired all!

Barnes Literature Festival

Lots of our classes have been out over the course of this week to visit the Barnes Literature Festival and listen to some authors speak. The children that I spoke to were really inspired to read the books shared and to write some of their own stories/poetry!

Sharing our Learning

It was so wonderful to see so many of our parents and families for our ‘sharing our learning’ afternoon. There was a lovely buzz around the classrooms and the children have expressed how proud they were to share the hard work and progress they’ve made with you.

Steps to take to help your child stay safe online

Have an ongoing conversation:

Continue to talk about the apps, games and sites they like to use, and what they like and don’t like and any concerns about being online. Discuss with them when to unfollow, block or report. For help starting this conversation, follow the link: https://saferinternet.org.uk/

Make sure they know where to go for support:

Remind your child they can always speak to you or an adult they trust if anything happens online that makes them feel worried or upset. Remind them that they won’t be in trouble as you are there to help.
