Newsletter 19th December 2025

Return to newsletters

Dear Parents and Carers,

Eils shared with KS2 and our families on Tuesday evening that lots of the Christmas story comes in pairs. Both at Christmas time and throughout the year, the partnership between our school and its community is really special. Thank you for the part you play in it – I really believe this is what makes Holy Trinity so special. I am sure you will agree that the Christmas productions and concerts have been truly outstanding this year, and have really embodied the spirit of Christmas.

As we reach the end of a wonderfully busy autumn term, I have been reflecting on the words of John 1:5: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

At this time of year, when the days are short, it has been a joy to see our school filled with so much light—whether through the laughter in our Nativity rehearsals, the kindness shown in our PTA events and charities, or the hard work in our classrooms. Our children truly embody our school values, bringing love, aspiration and community to everything they do.

I would like to thank our dedicated staff, our governors, and you, our parents and carers, for your unwavering support. I hope that this Christmas, you find time to pause, reflect, and enjoy the “good news of great joy” with those you love.

We wish you all a peaceful, holy, and very Happy Christmas.

Best wishes,

Mr George

Trips, visits and events

Godly Play Week

Many classes took part in Godly play this week where they heard the nativity story again and thought about how each character might feel. Fran in Fallow Class shared that Mary might have been quite stressed giving birth with so many people and animals around. It is really amazing to see and hear the different insights each student has to just one story.

A Visit from Santa to Nursery

Today Rainbow class had a very special guest visit the Nursery, Father Christmas made a detour from his very busy schedule. The children thoroughly enjoyed hearing the sleigh bells before he rang the doorbell, there were lots of ‘Ho-ho-ho’s’ as he sat in an armchair to share gifts from an enormous sack of presents. To say thank you we sang ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’!

KS2 Carol Concert

Wow! This week, KS2 performed their carol concert to KS1 on Tuesday morning and then to family and friends on Tuesday evening. Mr George commented on quite what a fantastic and inclusive musical masterpiece Mrs Barclay had put together. From harmonies across year groups and choir, singing soloists, instrumental accompaniment and more, we really went away full of festive cheer. The combination of Mrs Barclay’s incredible talent, dedication and passion combined with the amazing students at Holy Trinity accumulated in quite a spectacular event – well done and thank you to all involved.

Year 4 Science Museum Trip

Last Friday, Year 4 enjoyed a day out at the Science Museum in South Kensington. We have been studying the history of flight this term, including learning about pioneers of aviation (such as the Wright brothers and Amy Johnson) and the Space Race and Moon Landings. We started our visit with an interactive show entitled Mission to Space, which included some exciting bangs and explosions! We then spent some time in the Flight Gallery and the Space Gallery, where the children had fun completing quizzes. All the children were fantastically well behaved and enthusiastic about our learning. Thank you so much again to all the staff and parents who came with us.

Year 2 Visit Duke Street Church

Our Year 2 children enjoyed a truly enchanting morning at Duke Street Church in Richmond for a special performance of ‘The Christmas Journey’. This immersive, interactive nativity experience allowed the children to step back in time and follow the story of Christmas firsthand. From meeting the characters to exploring the beautifully decorated sets, the children were fully engaged as the narrative came to life around them. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of the Christmas story in such a memorable way.

Reception’s Festive Week!

During their PE lesson, Kingfisher Class took part in an Elf Run to raise money for The Children’s Trust.  They ran, skipped and hopped around the playground five times, giving Rudolf a run for his money!  Here is a link to the Just Giving page if you would like to donate:https://www.justgiving.com/page/lisa-moody-1?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=WA

Reception children also practised writing for the purpose of sending their own Christmas cards.

Staff Band Performance

Our wonderful staff band performed to the school after our celebration assembly on Thursday. It really topped off the festive feeling around the school. The children sang and danced along to 4 tunes performed by Mr George, Mr Bell, Mrs Walder, Mrs Moody, Mrs Barclay, Jade Bell and the honorary drummer, our very own student: Tabby from Year 6 Fallow Class.

Christmas Lunch

What a fabulous time the children had on Wednesday lunchtime. They were served like kings and queens at their tables by our fabulous staff and governor team. James, and his kitchen staff, did a wonderful job cooking up a festive feast of turkey and all the trimmings whilst Christmas tunes echoed around the hall. A huge thank you to everyone who put so many smiles on our students faces today.

Christingle

On Thursday, every student in the school made their own Christingle and attended a service led by Eils and her assistant – puppet Jeff. Eils shared with us the meaning of each part of the Christingle and its connection to the Christmas story. Christingle collections raise millions of pounds to support the work of the Children’s Society who work with young people who are experiencing a range of complex issues, and who feel alone. They try to help children who feel ignored, unsafe or who feel like they simply don’t matter. Being part of a wonderful community is so special so thinking of others not as fortunate as us is important too.

Celebrations!
