Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome to the new 2026-2027 Academic Year! A special welcome to any new families joining the Holy Trinity Church of England Community. I, myself, am also new to school and I would like to say a very sincere thank you for the very warm welcome that I have received. Please bear with me as I learn everyone’s name and connect faces to children and parents/carers. It’s been a wonderful start to the school year with the children settling back in very quickly and calmly.

So, a little bit about me. I am originally from New Zealand, but have now lived in London longer than I did in NZ. I love being a teacher and helping children to flourish and reach their full potential. This is the third Church of England Primary that I have worked in, the second as Headteacher. I am very excited about the year ahead.

Notices

New Staff

We welcome back Mrs Brown from maternity leave who will be teaching in the Early Years and Year 5 Fox Class on a Thursday and in Year 3 on a Friday. We also welcome back to the Holy Trinity Team, Mrs Lunow who will be teaching Year 6 Roe Class Monday to Wednesday.

School Uniform

Our school uniform creates a sense of belonging. Our expectation is that the children will wear their school uniform with pride and will be dressed in the correct items. Please refer to our school website for what the children should be wearing and what is not appropriate.

A Message from Miss Brunt

At the end of last academic year, the kindness that was shown to me by so many families across the HT community was incredible. From supportive messages in the playground, so many cards from the students and generous gifts too, I was really touched by your support – thank you. My baby boy, Oliver, was born on 23^rd July 2026 shortly after the end of term. Holy Trinity is a really special place. I wish you all a fabulous year ahead.

Music Clubs – Something for Every Young Musician- Spaces Available!

We’re delighted to announce that there are spaces available in our popular Rock Bandz (KS2), Music Bandz Orchestra (Yr 2-6) and Mini Bandz (KS1) classes this term.

If your child enjoys music and would like to play with others, we’d love to welcome them along.

Free trial classes and auditions for Music Bandz Orchestra and Rock Bandz will take place on Monday 14th September. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to experience a class, meet new friends and discover the excitement of making music together.

Allergy Safety

You may have recently seen in the news that on the 1st September Benedict’s Law became a statutory requirement for all schools. It is mandatory for all staff working in a school to complete training on allergy awareness and emergency response. During our INSET days last week, all staff completed this training.

It is very important that we stress to all parents that Holy Trinity CE is a NUT FREE and SESAME SEED FREE school. This means that children must not come to school with any product in their packed lunches that contain, or may contain, nuts or sesame seeds. Please check the product details on all packaging and avoid sending in any food items that could contain traces of these or which are produced in factories where nuts and sesame seeds are present.

Before and Afterschool

We kindly ask that children arriving and leaving school on scooters and bicycles dismount at the entrance gates and walk these through the school grounds to where they can park them. Please do not let your children play on any of the playground equipment before and after school and ensure that you are supervising them at all times. We ask that Year 6 pupils who have permission to walk home alone, leave the grounds promptly and sensibly.

Short Courses (2–4 weeks):

Playful Parenting (Under 5s): 2 sessions focusing on building strong parent-child attachment and healthy emotional growth through play. (White House FH: 16 & 23 Oct)
Parents In Conflict: A 3-week targeted course focusing on constructive communication and reducing the impact of relationship disagreements on children. (Ham CC: 1 Dec – 15 Dec)
Talking Teens: 4 sessions exploring adolescent brain development, breaking down communication walls, and setting boundaries. (Powerstation YC: 28 Sept – 19 Oct)

Longer Programmes (6–10 weeks):

Teen Life (National Autistic Society): A specialized 6-session programme for parents of autistic 10–16 year olds, focusing on communication and independence. (Ham CC: 6 Nov – 11 Dec)
The Nurturing Programme: A 10-week evidence-based course for primary-aged families, looking at the ‘why’ behind behaviors and positive discipline. (Heathfield CC: 23 Sept – 2 Dec)

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was lovely to see so many of you at our Summer fair – despite the damp start, it was a roaring success, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank our wonderful PTA for all that they do for the children and families of Holy Trinity. Eils Osgood joined us for Collective Worship on Monday to explore how light can guide us on our journey through life. Parents may be aware that for each collective worship, a child is chosen to light our candle, giving us focus on our theme, and to help us reflect on Jesus, the Light of the World.

Trips, visits and events

Herons and Swans visit Kew Gardens

Year 3 had a wonderful time on their trip to Kew Gardens on Tuesday. The children explored the gardens and the greenhouses, experiencing what it is like in the Tropics, went on a bee hunt as part of a pollination workshop and were even able to pollinate some flowers. There was also time for a play in the Children’s Garden. Everyone behaved impeccably and a lovely day was had by all.

Recorder concert

Year 2 treated us all to a spectacular recorder concert this week. They played a wide range of songs from different genres with confidence and enthusiasm. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came along. We appreciate the time spent encouraging the children to practise playing their instruments at home.

We would like to kindly request donations of any tennis balls you no longer need. We go through quite a few over the course of the year, and your support would be greatly appreciated!

2025 Summer Reading Challenge – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors.

The Summer Reading Challenge is the UK’s biggest children’s reading initiative for 4 –11-year-olds and is produced by The Reading Agency and delivered by public libraries. We hope that this year’s theme will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.

From Saturday 5 July 2025 the children can sign up for the challenge at their local Richmond upon Thames library and receive a Story Garden pack. To take part, they need to be a member of the library and have their own library card. For each of six library books they read they can collect a sticker for their pack. Children can update their progress through the challenge at any library in the borough. Everyone who reads six library books is rewarded in the library with a medal and certificate.

Safeguarding

Online

In school, we have a very secure filtering system called SENSO, which helps us to monitor the usage of computers in school, ensuring that websites and content are suitable for whoever is using the machine and keeping children safe online. However, this filtering system is only available at the school, and so we are asking all parents to ensure that any devices used at home (online gaming consoles, laptops, tablets, phones etc) that their children may have access to have suitable filtering and monitoring controls fitted. Whilst each home system will be different, we are happy to recommend the NSPCC website here, which is a link to Parental Controls for devices. The best way of checking that children only access appropriate content at home is by parents keeping a close eye on all devices and ensuring that children are in a shared space when using them. If you have any further queries, do contact Mr George at school.

Community events and initiatives

Current years 5, 6 and 7 who cannot yet swim 25m

Pools on the Park and Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre are offering Summer Splash crash courses for children in current years 5, 6 and 7 who cannot yet swim 25m. This is open to children who either live in the borough or attend school in the borough. The 5-day course costs £5.

Applications will be accepted from 7th July 2025

Summer Splash

The Summer Splash programme will return this summer, providing crash courses to children in school years 5, 6 and 7 who are unable to swim to a level expected for their age.

Summer Splash 2025 – London Borough of Richmond upon Thames

MET IN THE PARK

The Met Police South Richmond SNT are running the highly successful Met in the Park, in Old Deer Park, Richmond on the 6th August between 1100 and 1700. This is a completely free family fun day, with dogs, horses, interactive crime scene for kids as well as London Fire Brigade and vintage army vehicles. They will also have free fun fair rides and lots of other activities. They would love to have as many families attend to meet the various departments of the police and to enjoy a free day out in the summer holidays.
