Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to our latest newsletter. As we settle further into the term, you will have no doubt noticed that the weather has taken a distinctly wetter turn recently! Please do ensure your children come to school with suitable waterproof coats and footwear so they can continue to enjoy outdoor play and learning, rain or shine.

We are currently holding school tours for families who are thinking of joining our school community in the future. It is a wonderful opportunity to see our vibrant classrooms in action and experience the calm, welcoming atmosphere that makes our school so special. If you have friends, family, or neighbours looking for a school place, please encourage them to book a tour through our website or contact the school office directly. We would love to welcome them and give them a true feel for our wonderful school.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for being such a vital part of our school community. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,

Ms Maryanne Boon

Year 2’s Wild Adventure at the

London Wetland Centre!

On Monday, Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the

London Wetland Centre! The children loved exploring

creatures in their natural habitats and discovering

what makes these environments such ideal homes.

The highlight of the day was watching the otters

being fed—and learning that giant otters can grow to

over 6 feet long (taller than most adults)!

School Tours

If your child was born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023, please remember that the deadline to apply for a Reception place is 15th January 2027. School tours can be booked via this link or by contacting our school office directly. Tours are available whether your child will be joining us in Reception in September 2027 or if you are looking for an in-year place in another year group.

Please do also share this link with any friends, neighbours, or colleagues who may be interested in booking a tour. We look forward to welcoming you to our school!

School Uniform

Our school uniform creates a sense of belonging. Our expectation is that the children will wear their school uniform with pride and will be dressed in the correct items. Please refer to our school website for what the children should be wearing and what is not appropriate. Please note that, after half term, the summer dress should be put away until next year, and long sleeve t-shirts mustn’t be worn under our white polo shirts.

Changes to your contact details

It is important that you keep us updated on any changes to your contact details and address. Please contact the school office if you have a new mobile phone number, email address or have moved recently.

Kingfisher fund

We are incredibly proud of the vibrant learning environment we have built at Holy Trinity. While government funding covers basic day-to-day operations, extra funds allow us to go above and beyond for our pupils, which is why we set up the Kingfisher Fund. If you are in a position to make a voluntary financial contribution, either as a one-off donation or a regular monthly payment by standing order (for example, £15 for one child or £25 for a family), our bank details are:

  • Bank: NatWest
  • Account Name: Holy Trinity CE Primary School The Kingfisher Account
  • Sort Code: 60-22-03
  • Account Number: 63531925

We are extremely grateful for any contribution you are able to make. All funds go directly towards enriching the children’s education and school experience.

Attendance

Schools aim for their overall attendance target to be around 96 – 97% each year. Our Attendance is monitored by the Local Authority and the Department for Education. Shortly we will receive the DfE overall target for our school for this academic year. Attending school for 190 days is statutory. Children do fall ill and, as a result, may need time off school to recover. Please see the information regarding keeping your children healthy further in the newsletter. Please note that term-time holidays and non-school activity absences will not be authorised, in line with the statutory expectations for schools from the DfE. In line with our school values and the expectations in our Attendance Policy, we ask that parents and carers do inform us of any absences by filling out the relevant paperwork.

Year 6 Cake Sale

Year 6 will be holding a cake sale by the main gate after school today! Please come along to buy some delicious treats and support our Year 6 pupils. Cash and small change are greatly appreciated.

Harvest Festival at Holy Trinity

As part of our Harvest celebrations this year we will once again be inviting donations for Richmond Foodbank. Please bring donations in on Friday 23rd October for our Harvest Festival, which will be led by Year 3. The Foodbank are most in need of the following:

Free school eligibility for the 2026 -2027 school year

From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit will be entitled to receive a free meal. Although all primary school age children in London receive free school meals, please still apply if you think your child might be eligible. This is a legal requirement through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026. Going forward, there will be 2 categories of benefits-based free school meals:

  • Targeted FSM, which continues to be based on the existing threshold, covering pupils who are in households in receipt of Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less
  • Expanded FSM, a new category covering pupils who do not qualify for targeted FSM, but who are in households receiving Universal Credit

In order that this support reaches as many of our parents as possible we would be grateful if you apply using this LINK It only takes a couple of minutes, and you will receive a decision from the system by return. An annual re-check will be made to confirm eligibility for the following academic year.

We are a Nut Free and Sesame Free School

We are a Nut Free and Sesame Free School

It is very important that we stress to all parents that Holy Trinity CE is a NUT FREE

and SESAME SEED FREE school. This means that children must not come to school

with any product in their packed lunches that contain nuts or sesame seeds. Please

check the product details on all packaging carefully and, if in doubt, leave it out of

the packed lunch.

Scooters and Bikes/Beginning and End of Day

We expect that children arriving and leaving school on scooters and bicycles dismount at the entrance gates and walk these through the school grounds to where they can park them.

Please do not let your children play on any of the playground equipment before and after

school and ensure that you are supervising them at all times. We ask that Year 6 pupils who have permission to walk home alone, leave the grounds promptly and sensibly.

Keeping your children healthy this school year – a guide for parents and carers

As children are now back at school and we move closer to winter, now is a good time to think about some of the common illnesses that can affect children’s time in school during the colder months.

For more information please see this UKHSA guide to keeping kids healthy this school year for parents and carers.

Holy Trinity Church Light Party – Saturday 31st October

Our School Value for this term is: Aspiration

Colossians 3:23 — “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

This week’s Bible verse is taken directly from the inspirational assembly led by Miss Bannenberg. She pointed out that it doesn’t say ‘Only work hard if you’re going to get famous’ or ‘Only try if you’re getting a trophy.’ Instead, it reminds us to pour our hearts into whatever we do, whether that means being a loyal friend, tidying the classroom, caring for animals, or helping someone who is lonely. That is true aspiration.
