Dear Parents and Carers 29/02/2024
Thank you for your cooperation and support around pick up from after school clubs now being from the Carrington
Road gates. If the gates are being opened for a parent who is collecting their child from Kingfisher Club, please do not
use this as an opportunity to enter the grounds. We are sorry to have had to implement this measure but we just want
to keep your children and the school site safe. When picking up at 4.30pm please walk if possible or avoid driving up
near to the school entrance to ensure the safety of parents and children waiting around the gate.
Year 3 Safe Walking
Year 3 have enjoyed, and benefitted from, taking part in ‘Safe Walking’ activities this week. They have been learning to
‘Stop, Think, Look and Listen’ when walking safely on the pavements or when crossing the road with care at a safe
time. They now understand how important it is to see clearly, and be seen by all road users.
Eco Conference
Our Y5 and Y6 Eco Reps were privileged to attend the ECO Champions Summit at the London Wetland Centre on
Tuesday. They participated in workshops on Climate Change and Air Quality; Biodiversity and Habitats; and Water, and
were able to fully absorb the facts presented, engage with the experts and challenge themselves with practical
activities. Check out their colourful collages and cosy bug hotels. You might like to ask them how to make a paper clip
float! In the plenary session, the group spoke eloquently about the eco initiatives that have been adopted at Holy
Trinity. We look forward to a closer partnership with the London Wetland Centre and London Riverscapes in the future.
Eco Rescue Refill
The Eco refill team will be running the refill shop on Friday, 1st March, after school near the Carrington Road entrance
from 3.30 – 3.45 pm. Please bring your detergent and hand/ body wash plastic bottles to be refilled or purchase a glass
bottle for life. There are some healthy snacks for sale too! Please remember to bring cash for your purchases.
Contacting Class Teachers
We are unusual as a school in that we share our class teachers emails to enable you to contact them directly. We would
just like to remind you of our Communications & Conduct Policy regarding emails:
It is unhelpful for staff to receive lengthy emails from parents regarding any issues or concerns around children.
Emails should be brief and used to request a meeting with the relevant staff member, allowing staff to focus fully on
teaching and learning during the school day. Staff are very happy to meet in person or arrange a call to discuss any
concerns. Staff will respond to emails when they are able but are not expected to do so beyond 5.30pm or during the
weekend or their holidays.
Missing books
There are a number of overdue books from the infant library – many of them are brand new! We will be charging £5
for these books as we do for non-returned phonics books to enable us to replace them. Please have a good hunt
around your homes and return any outstanding books asap. Thank you.
Book Sale
We are holding a book sale at the front of the school on Tuesday 12th and Tuesday 26th March of mainly Key Stage
One books from our Infant Library. All books will be 50p and we will use the money that we raise to buy some more
chapter and multilingual books for the Infant Library as we are in need of these. Please bring cash if you would like to
purchase a book.
World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March, we will be celebrating World Book Day! The children are encouraged to come into school
dressed as one of their favourite book characters. As always, we are very conscious of our impact on the environment
so please re-use costumes where possible or your child may wish to make their costume.
If you have any old costumes that you no longer have any use for, then the school would be grateful for any costume
donations. During this day, we will also be having a parade, if children would like to partake, and other fun World Book
Day related activities. We look forward to what we hope will be a wonderful day!
Visiting author
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, on Friday 8th march, we will be visited by the popular local author Smriti
