Dear Parents and Carers 21/03/2024
Royal Institution
The Royal institution came to school on Monday. They did a presentation to both Reception class and KS1 in the
morning and KS2 in the afternoon. The theme this time was Energy Live and there was an exciting demonstration for
gravitational, magnetic, elastic, electrostatic, nuclear, kinetic, thermal and chemical energy involving lots of bangs and
flashes. Many children returned in the evening for a further show demonstrating the wonders of science.
Year 5 at High Ashurst
It was great to see that year 5 gave a great big thumbs up to their residential trip to High Ashurst. Thank you to all the
staff who went along and made the trip possible.
Year 5 at the Easter Experience
Year 5 went to Holy Trinity Church today to see the Easter Story brought to life through a number of actors taking on
the roles of key figures who encountered Jesus during the period between the last supper and the resurrection.

Easter Egg Competition – 25th March
Please bring in any entries for the annual blown egg competition first thing on Monday 25th March ready for judging.
The theme for the competition is, ‘What will Mrs Bateman do in her retirement?’ This will be judged by our Chairs of
Governors. Good luck!
International Food Festival – 26th March
Please bring in a plate of bite-sized nibbles next Tuesday to share as we celebrate our cultural richness and share the
different cuisines linked to our heritages with our community. It may be tasters of a family favourite (sweet or savoury),
British or some traditional food linked to your culture or heritage. Please label your plate of food with the ingredients,
(gluten/dairy/ vegetarian/vegan) for our children with allergies and intolerances. We are a nut free school.
Your support is hugely appreciated in making this event possible, the children will really enjoy it! It obviously relies
heavily on your contribution of a plate of nibbles though in order for it to go ahead – no food, no food festival! Please
join in with our wonderful community to give our children a fantastic experience. Miss Ashby
